Do NOT, and I will put in bold NOT, use MPRC. They are slow and don't always do a good job (I know that for a fact). If you need your phone repaired, use a CPW Repair Centre instead. At least you can enquire on the status of the repair, with MPRC, I've seen phones take a month for repair without anyone knowing what is going on.
"sim card registration NOT SUCCESSFUL" usually refers to a SIM card not registered for use. A SIM card has a unique identification number which is allocated to a specific phone number. It seems that 3 or P4U have not completed the registration of the SIM card to your number which is why it won't work. It should take no more than 24 hours for a SIM to be activated, some take less than an hour (such as Vodafone's).
It seems there is nothing wrong with either the phone or the SIM but someone screwed up. Either 3 didn't update your account with the correct SIM ID number to your phone number, P4U didn't inform 3 with the correct information or P4U just requested for a new SIM and expect you to do the rest (which is a common procedure from P4U staff). Speak to 3 and only 3 for SIM card issues, P4U acting as a middle man will complicate things further, however, if any costs are involved, get P4U involved for them to pay for it
