******Thread bump from 2016. Update on last post.*****

Hi guys.

I clocked in at work earlier to start my shift 11:30am - 8:30pm and immediately I was ushered into the Managers office and I was told I was to be suspended on contractual pay (full pay) for today. I have a meeting tomorrow at 15:30.

I have absolutely no idea what for. I was NOT told the reason for my suspension. I was not in work on Sunday. My last shift was Saturday 5:00am - 12 midday. I am banging my head against the desk trying to work out what it could be for.

I know some of you would probably say there's more to this than I am letting on but, hand on heart I am lost for any reason what so ever for this suspension.

Here is the letter with names etc blanked out.

With me not being in the union, whether this may be against me I do not know as I have never been in this situation before am am unsure if this letter and the procedure they have taken is right. Looking at the .gov site I should be told the reason. Will me NOT being told have any affect on this meeting/suspension?

Edit: I know this is work related but would GD be better for advice (lol) as there is probably more traffic there? If a MOD could decide this, I am OK for this thread to be moved there.

Take a representative with you.

Was there anything you might have been expected to do on the Saturday that may have caused an issue for the Sunday workers?

Were they expecting you in on the Sunday?

Day off. Didn't leave the house apart from nipping to Aldi. I finished my Sat shift with my boss. Everything was fine.

Has anyone else received a similar letter? It could be a department thing and so they have suspended a few people whilst they look into it.
Do you have to sign into any systems? Someone may have used your details.

Could be a number of reasons for it I guess.

I am not aware of anyone else getting letters/suspension but then again with not being allowed to talk to staff etc no-one would no anything different

Also got my voice call recorder set up in case of any phone calls. just have to make sure I tell work I will be recording the call I presume thats the best way to do it.

Just called ACAS advice line. Very helpful to. they said as the letter and suspension is only for investigating it could mean that its' not about me but could be about some one else and to make things easier for all parties it's best to keep them out of the work place, I can see that point of view. So I could be just a witness to something or I may know something about something or some one. Could be anything.

Roll on tomorrow.:)

No shift change at all. There are few rumors floating around work currently about the reason, I have been notified about them from friends. Not divulging to you guys though (yet). If it is what it is rumored to be its very petty and not work related. juts a bit of banter between friends whom I have known for 12 years give or take.

I'm Back......

Well. Where do I begin?

Ok on Friday, my boss told me about a video of a C.Ronaldo press interview from a Champions league from whatever year. The one where CR walked out of. Anyway this video was in Spanish/Portuguese and the subtitles were in English but completely different such as saying he was out with the Icelandic team for a drink and he took coke etc. Very funny video actually.

Anyway. The prompted me to look at some of the Bruno Gantz (sp) Hitler videos on Youtube, you know the ones. :P

Anyway, I downloaded the original German none subtitled clip and proceeded to add subtitles to it using 4 friends from work who I have know and had "bantz" with over the years, I mean serious **** taking bantz. Give and take that sort of thing. So I did a similar thing using the actors as my friends. Tagged the only people in it and not friends of friends, yeah I know it can be shown to others, hey ho. So only the ones used. Got replies saying how funny it was (it was very funny) from all those tagged apart from two.

The two took offence and here we are.

Still suspended on pay while further investigation is done.

Granted, probably a silly thing to do but I would not have thought these two people would have made a fuss over it. My Boss ****ed himself at the video and he feels the same way as others do. With staff moral at all time low, it was done in jest to give us something to laugh at and talk about it.

Yeah silly me.

The reason the two took offence is a little petty considering other staff members (inc managers), in front of management at various times had said the same things and the 'victim' so to speak laughed with them and not just out of blending in, actual belly laughs.

Anyway, extra paid holiday for me.:)

CV updated, cover letter done for a position in a local pub restaurant. I know the manager and had a chat earlier before the meeting. Pretty much mine just got to hand in CV and letter.

Right a fish supper for us tonight. :)

The video is been removed from social media. I did that, they also asked me why I felt the need to remove it. They had a copy anyway, as the meeting was adjourned for 5 minutes, 3 more video points were wrote down on their note pad, so I would imagine they watched it again.

I have it on my PC though. Definitely NSFW but if I was to link it to you would it best to do it via my google drive and give link to view only and not download. Or can it still be downloaded.

I'm confused, did you do this on work PC, or in work time?

If not, why should a comedy video you posted on your own social media wall affect your job?

I don't really understand.

For the record

I did it at home in my own time on my own PC. Comedy video that takes the **** and insults others like they insulted me over the years. Obviously my sense of humour is wrong.

The company does have a Social media policy that I have broken so it seems. However we do have a dedicated colleague page on social media that 10k staff members are on and the crap that is on there would get them the sack instantly.

I would be interested in the exact wording of the social media policy

Overview
Social media is part of our daily lives, both for personal use on sites such
as Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter and also as a business tool for on the
Colleague Facebook Group, Google and Yammer. As a business, we
actively encourage the use of social media to share ideas and two way
discussions, and this policy outlines how we can use it smartly.
In short, let’s use social media for constructive conversations, and please
don’t post, comment or upload inappropriate content relating to company
your colleagues, customers, suppliers, shareholders or visitors. Doing so
poses risks to you, our reputation, confidential information and compliance
with the law.
Key Principles
 You are personally responsible for any content that you publish on
social media.
 This policy applies to all colleagues using social media sites in or
outside of work, for business and personal use.
 By social media sites we mean any blogs, wikis and other online social
networks. This includes internal or ‘closed groups’ such as Yammer,
Google and the Colleague Facebook Group.
 We do monitor sites and will remove or ask you to remove posts if you
post or upload serious, discriminatory or criminal comments or images
that offends our values, brings our name into disrepute, breaches
confidentiality or is deemed unacceptable to our customers and
colleagues.
 Breaching the policy can result in disciplinary action.
 We retain the right to withdraw access to internal sites at any time,
without notification and to remove posts classed as inappropriate.

Protect our brand
We all have a role in promoting and protecting our brand, and here are
some guidelines to help you do it on social media:
 Please don’t respond to a negative post unless it is part of your role.
 Please don’t post comments that undermine our business.
 Please help us protect you, our colleagues and business by escalating
any policy breeches of issues:
o external sites: flagging to the Social Media team by posting #social
or telephone 999999999 and ask speak to a manager
o internal Colleague Facebook: flagging to the Internal
Communications team by posting #admin or ‘Report Post’ in the top
right of the post.
Be smart, respectful and confidential
Smart: Your comments can affect our reputation and could be in place for
a long time.
Respectful: Let’s speak to each other as we would face to face. We
should respect others and behave in line with our Equality and Diversity,
Bullying and Harassment and Code of Conduct at all times.
Confidential: Let’s not disclose or upload commercially sensitive
information, identify a customer or supplier by name and respect our
values, copyright and trademark laws (including logos).
Internal and ‘closed’ groups
Internal social media sites allow us to have business related discussions,
promote corporate events and fundraising activities and discuss important
matters in a safe, confidential and professional forum; this is not the place
to raise personal or local issues or grievance and disciplinary matters.

Dos and Don’ts
In a nutshell, here are some tips when using social media – whether it’s in
your own time or on a private device at work:
Do Don’t
Think before you post – you’re
responsible for everything you say
online.
Upload anything that could show
company in a negative light or
damage anyone’s reputation.
Avoid offensive or discriminatory
posts about anyone.
Pick fights; they never work out.
Keep confidential business out of
social media.
Post any defamatory, vulgar,
obscene or threatening material.
Use common sense and courtesy.
Apologise if necessary, and let’s
admit mistakes if we make them.
Talk about our customers,
shareholders or suppliers, unless
previously agreed.
Be respectful of others, their cultures
and their rights to privacy.
Access, download or forward
inappropriate or offensive material.
Post accurate and work relevant
information on internal sites.
Use our logo or any Company
images in a personal capacity.
Access social media only during
breaks or outside of working hours.
Give your opinion on behalf of
company unless it’s your job.
Raise concerns about the security of
your account with the relevant social
media site help function.
Raise grievances or complaints on
our internal sites.

I know about it. Its in handbook and in staff areas.

In preparation for the next meeting/disciplinary I am wondering if I should type up a full and detailed description of the video and explain what each part means and why it was included. Also including examples of past **** taking between other staff and the 'victims' in question. My wife works at the same place and has been sat with staff taking the **** in exactly the same way my video portrayed.

it might help having this typed up to help them understand the whole thing.
