I haz kittenz - watch them live here.

I love how backwards cats get when they have to wear a cone. My cat got bit on the butt a few years ago and we had to put a cone on her to stop her from messing with the area. She could hardly walk with that thing on, bumping into tables, walking backwards, she'd try to walk into a straight line but she'd actually be slowly veering to her right and bump into the wall. If I didn't know better I'd think she were drunk. She's a tubby little thing too which made it even more funny :) I felt slightly evil.

We have an update too.

Rocky aka Lord Sandwich has now been re-homed.

Good to see they have settled in :-) Oue one year old still scream for food, we just cave in and feed him. Probably explains why he is the biggest cat ever.

Also that Pic of mimi mid jump is epic! Needs to be a motivational poster!

Aww good to hear that Sarnie has been rehomed. Who did he go to in the end? Did they seem nice people? Did you ask them to signup to OcUK and post pictures?

These two don't really complain for food as they always have some dried food down for grazing but it's in the morning and evening when the pouch food goes down that I get the cries as I'm dishing it up. It's funny/cute though.

That Mimi picture is epic, I said exactly the same thing to Ciphon (OcUK) who took that picture. It at least needs to be lolcatted.

Any thoughts anyone? :)

Oh and Tig, we have a big fat white cat at home and she's had a collar for a while now due to a re-occurring injury. I think the cones on their head causes problems with their hearing and whiskers which messes up their navigation systems.

iirc, cats can kind of pin point sound in 3D reasonably well (for precision hunting) and use their whiskers for all sorts. All of which is "thrown off" by having a big white cone around their head :D

I'm not sure how fat your big fat white cat is, but have you found her reluctant at all jump up on surfaces? Our cat you see had a milk infection when she gave birth and the vet said she'd never lose the weight and she got to her peak weight at about 7 yrs old (6.3kg). She doesn't eat as much as my other two cats who are relatively trim compared and very active. But I do think it has dampened her confidence; she's always reluctant to jump up even on small stools.

It sounds silly but is there no way to build her confidence a bit? She's extremely fussy and trusting but I'd love her to get in touch with her inner cat a bit more! :)

Long overdue update!

Mimi and Dexter are around 4.5 months old now and doing very well. We had Ciphon come over last night and help take some pictures/videos of them playing. Here are a few:

Well, I'll post an update here and maybe put some more pictures on the Official Kitties thread later.

Both Mimi and Dexter are awesome. Very friendly, playful, affectionate. Possibly the best kitteh's ever.

Dexter is far bigger than his sister now. He has started winning the rucks they have due to being in a higher weight class. She still has more precision/skill than he does though. He reminds me of a teenage boy; clumsy, oafish, greedy and generally a bit dim. She is the complete opposite.

In 5 days it is their 6 month birthday. As a result we have started letting them out into our back/front garden for a little explore (when supervised). They love it, especially Mimi. On their first night within about 20 minutes of being in the back garden a big black cat appeared and sat on our fence watching them. Mimi was a little scared but Dexter just sat below meowing at him :) He wanted to make friends...the other kitty didn't :)

Anyway, we had Bob Khaaan! come over and take some pro pictures of them the other day, so here they are (thanks to Bob!):

I also had another friend take a few pictures of them on their first proper outing in our front garden. After a short time they were greeted by "Old Noir" as we have come to call him:

Unfortunately, Old Noir isn't the friendliest of kittehs and shortly after the above pic Dexter got a little too close and he lashed out! Fortunately Dex escaped into our living room window :)

More pictures of this session can be seen In This Album!!

Thanks for the update, they are both looking great!

Mimi is the spitting image of her mum! I wonder if she has the same personality?

Dexter is a bit like Eddie, he is now just over a year old, huge, clumsy, greedy and probably the dimmest cat ever. He will go out the cat flap, but sit at the front door until he is let in. But he is very affectionate.

Poo is now piling on the pounds and getting quite fat :-)

Mimi does indeed look very similar to Poppy. Markings are slightly different but 100% her mothers daughter :)

Is Eddie's Dad the same as our kittehs or are you not sure? I think Dexter has loads of growing to do. For his size, his ears/head and tail still look much larger so I think he still has to grow into them!

Where Mimi is the first to explore/do something, Dexter is usually the one sat below her meowing in disbelief, trying to work out how she has done what she has done :)

Mimi, Eddie and Dexter all have the same dad. Eddie has a different mum tho', she is called Maisy and is the cleverest most cunning feline ever. She is very quiet but does things like go upstairs and open every single cupboard!

I think Dexter will get as big as Ed, I'll get some pics of them later.

Pinter, we've just moved into a nice big house with a garden (and cat flap)
if poppy has ANY more kittens, you tell me ok?

She has been spayed :(

Mine were the last batch!

Edit:- For Pinter when he gets a chance to see the thread, do you have any updates on Lord Sarn? Would be nice to have a picture of him now to see how he has changed/grown!

in that case, if mimi has kittens!

I'm sorry to dissapoint but Mimi has also been done. It's a crying shame to because she is so beautiful! :)

The vet recomended it as they are brother and sister and we had no plans of breeding which meant they might get busy with each other

Wondering if Pinter happens to stumble by this, any updates on Lord Sarnie? I'd love to see a picture of him now!

Funny how as I write this thread, Dexter has decided to go all out attack on my feet!

Howdy!

Sadly we have news about the Sarnie boy :-(

Was a shame no one from the forum could step up and give him a home, his whereabouts are unknown.

Poppy has decided that we like rats, big big rats and is now bringing a steady stream of them back. I can be sitting here typing, hear the cat flap go and lots of meow noises. She then jumps on the desk and plops one of the buggers right in front of me!

Maisy and Eddie both have the sniffles, and poor old Maisy has a runny nose. I have to keep cleaning her snot off my lcds.

Here is a shot of Eddie, he shares the same dad as Dexter. Considering his is not yet 2, he is the size of a house. on the left is Maisy his mum, who is as big as poppy (tho' she is piling on the pounds). So expect Dexter to get big, really big!

Interesting point, what's the minimum cutoff for males? If a little boy kitten starts getting busy with cushions, curtains and the ,less spiky plants in the home, is that a good starting point? I'd love to have me some kittens in the future (not personally, through the medium of mature sexually cats) but my innate prejudices would mean that I'm not up for litter-mates breeding. I'm happy to form out the stud service to avoid it, but how soon coud I get the males rendered ineffective?

Who did he go to in the end then mate? Random people? It's a real shame about Sarn, bit sad really :(

Also, that picture of Eddie shows that he looks almost identical to Dexter! (Except he has white boots). Funny how you can see they are step brothers. Their markings are very prominent and the tabby stripes they have are very noticeable.

He is getting big now and Mimi is catching up a little! Both doing really well, next time Khaaan is over I'll get him to take some pics again!

To Deadbeat, depends how you go about the kittens. You can have them done at any age but for males you want to get them done early. I heard that once they start spraying even if you get them done they can still retain the habit.

If you have a girl and a boy just get the boy done and send the girl out when she is old enough. She will come back pregnant. Mimi's mum (Pinters Poppy) had Elvis barging down the cat flap to get in when she was on heat!
