I just turned 40 years old

^^ This ^^ Its all downhill from there. Getting sucks physically!

I was speaking with someone about this but isn't "It's all downhill from here/there etc.." a good thing. For example if you are carrying some shopping bags and someone says "it's all down hill form here", that is better than having to walk uphill.

Likewise, the phrase "uphill battle" is a bad thing. So the question is which is better to hear for someone turning 40? "It's all downhill form here" or "it's all uphill from here"

i
40 knees start to hurt
42 hips start to hurt
44 eyes stop working... need glasses
46 eyes get worse. new glasses
48 hair growing everywhere
50 ???

I have all of the above except 40, and 42.

I do have a bad back, however. Which started in my mid 30's

Don't need glasses...had cataract surgery..nice new shiny lens implants. Yep eyes still got worse...retinal detachment surgery.

Hair growing in the ears is the worst..used to pick spots..now I pluck my ears.

Anyway..you're never 'old'.....just lucky you've made it this far where others unfortunately havent.

Crikey what age were you when you had retinal detachment?

Back in 2014...I was 49. Left eye retinal detachment...possibly a later complication of having lens implants when I was 45. But while it was detaching & before I sought help, I was on the back of my trailer (lorry driver) & flipped open a metal cable lock & it smacked me in my right eye which caused retinal tear...so four & a half hour operation on both eyes at the same time..must be the unluckiest person on earth lol.

Always believe age is a number, I will go down fighting mentally.

Do I feel old, not really, I believe it is connected to how you are mentally. 30, hit me real hard, but since, I don't give a hoot. I am happier as I get older. No longer any pressure, nothing to prove other than to naysayers from years gone; that they were wrong.

I am comfortable in my skin. Weight is kept in check, and try to eat a varied diet, exercise (nothing special). I always remember watching A View to a Kill as a kid, when Roger Moore had surgery, removed the wrinkles and looked dreadful. Personally, I want to embrace ageing, take care but nothing artificial. Just look at Simon Cowell, all the money in the world and the fight against ageing, he looks terrible.

I’m 42 next month, honestly don’t care still able to do whatever I like, but quite aware after 50 is might not be so easy so looking after my health.

Sorry for the thread bump, but I hope Craig’s alright. He hasn’t posted since this thread 6 months ago. He was a regular. I miss his posts in now eating.
