I just turned 40 years old

Sorry for the thread bump, but I hope Craig’s alright. He hasn’t posted since this thread 6 months ago. He was a regular. I miss his posts in now eating.

Craig, if you’ve been lurking, are you ok?

Last seen Oct 21 so he's still 'about'

I’m pretty sure someone in their 80’s posts on here

Cheesefests moaning sounds like he's in his 80s but I don't think he is :p

You know what's a good feeling? When you have an hospital appointment and two nurses, on two separate occasions, both ask you if your date of birth is correct because you look way younger than you are. That made my ******* day. :D

40 knees start to hurt
42 hips start to hurt
44 eyes stop working... need glasses
46 eyes get worse. new glasses
48 hair growing everywhere
50 ???

While old post, a lot of 16 year olds would have said that as well.

This popped into my head.

As am I, he’s been mentioned twice above.
I know, it’s that incroyable homme vieux Jean François Genou!
Il a quatre vingt deux (or to the uninitiated, he is eighty two!)
Joyeux Noël à tous, et bonne année!

I didn't realise this was a OAP forum

Going to have to look for a younger forum. :)

Happy birthday OP

Thanks Sexy - add 5 yrs to that.

46 and I'm knackered, start yoga right now, thank me later.
Just doing this now. After running 3-4 times a week for the last few years I'm realising the tightness I now have in certain areas. Starting a stretching routine now and thinking about Yoga for the new year. Both my folks swear by it.

I think yoga is a good shout and I’m going to explore that. The main ageing issue for me is aches and pains and loss of suppleness. Nowhere near as bendy as I used to be and stuff just aches more.

I tried Yoga and some moves just brought on Nausea. I went to a more brain training class, creative writing.
Maybe at 69 it is a bit late to start Yoga? I am still 1.8m and 70kg though, not running to fat yet.

I'm now in a wheelchair because of running
Damn sorry to hear that. Do you know what specifically caused it? I've personally always committed to only doing relatively short runs due to the toll it can take long term, so stick to max 10km and usually 5km. Doing nothing isn't really an option and nor is going full out so there needs to be a happy balance somewhere.

This is the stretch routine I'm doing currently if anyone is interested. Takes 15 mins but feels like 5.

I’ve dropped 8kgs since middle of the year and have another 16kgs to go to get to my goal. I am 6ft and 54 but have asthma and an immune disorder that is controlled with steroids making weight gain a work of moments and weight loss a real challenge. Think yoga would be helpful for me.

Suppleness, you got that right, it started first when I realised that just putting my socks on was taking longer and longer.
Then eventually I was having murders bending my legs enough to bring my feet into reach to cut my toenails.
I got round that when on an annual diabetes check, the nurse said, “Your feet are sparkling clean, particularly between your toes but your toenails could do with a trim.”
I said that I wasn’t as lithe as I once was, and she told me of a NHS podiatry clinic where you can get them clipped for free.
This all reminds me of something I saw on a U.S. forum, some guy posted;
When you’re young, if you drop a quarter you pick it up, but when you’re old you think, ‘do I really need 25 cents?’
