I need an operation to remove a tumour

I made the suggestion to my key worker and then my consultant confirmed it is prudent "as just in case".

In regards to the first consultant - i'm just a bit mad that he didn't suggest a second opinion for me, i had to wait 5 weeks before i was given the option.

This is going to sound really bigoted and egotistical but i beat heart failure twice initially having 2 days to live and a 30% of survival, all i can say is you'll be fine 95% are really good chances and you have the best medical team around you.

Look on the brightside of things and laugh through it, the hospital gowns are awful, the paper underwear is even worse, but hopefully you'll be absolutely fine.

Best of Luck man

I'm now making the trip into London a bit earlier for a procedure to stop the blood supply to the tumour - This will be done Monday 7th Sept under local - The full operation to remove my tumour is still the 18th Sept.

A friends son recently had 3 massive tumours removed in the Royal Marsden, tumours that he was told were inoperable by the local hospital.

He's far from out of the woods but his progress is nothing short of amazing, and a large part of that has to be put down to the fantastic care at the marsden :)

Your in good hands!

Just picked this thread up, very best of luck over the next few weeks. Be positive.

I lost my father (aged 52) just short of two weeks ago to a very aggresive primary bowel and liver cancer. Diagnosed on the 27th of April and was no longer with us come the morning of the 20th of August. So just short of 4 months.

Luckily you've caught it early enough :)

I don't wish to scare you but if you haven't already say what you want to say to your loved ones, friends and family while you have the chance. I don't know how life threatening/fast your tumour is progressing but do things while you can. No regrets.

A 5% chance is small, but never the less don't ignore it and heed my advice. I think it's always best to prepare for worst case scenario. A peice of advice my father and I often exchanged was 'hope for the best, prepare for the worst'.

Chances are your operation will run smoothly and you'll be recovering in no time :)

I wish you all the best. Keep us in the loop!
