I need an operation to remove a tumour

Well the surgeons think they have removed all of the tumour it weighed 3.6kg and was shaped like a dumbell - operation took about 2 hours and i was in recovery for 3. I havea wound all the way from my sternum to my groin, that must be what 20inches or so, its fixed with disolveable stiches.

I had a sleepless first night that was last Tuesday 15th but i got better and was discharged on Saturday.

However since then i've had a numbness and pain in my lower back / bum so i'm off to get my gp's advice if i need to go back to hospital or if it is just part of my recovery.

Good to hear you're ok and that you're well enough to post about it. There was another thread made the other day by mattheman concerned about what had happened to you, so the update is really appreciated :)

I had some trouble finding your blog when I was looking for an update the other day, don't know if you're aware or but it's moved to here.

Slightly OT but reading your story made me consider getting private medical insurance just in case. Do you think things might of been better had you been private since your initial troubles peeing? Just seems like the NHS took awhile to diagnose you.

Hope you're recovery time isn't too long, and that you're back on your feet soon.

Here's hoping everything turns out for the best.

If you hadn't noticed, some of us were quite concerned about you:

may the force be with you mate. my mum was left with a constant headache after her brain/ear tuma was removed. she tried loads of western medicine all to no avail, im currently trying to convince her to try some chinese/eastern treatments now.

wow, that's one hell of a tumour, no wonder you needed breakthrough pain meds! Hope it's all ok now and I'm sure the numbness is just due to your body suddenly having this huge thing taken out.

Keeping everything crossed that you make a full recovery. :)
