I need some games in my house, what are the basics

I'm going to throw in "Roll for the Galaxy". A more approachable version of Race for the Galaxy, that supports 5 players pretty well. It's not quite a quick, but it's a excellent dice game that offers a lot of interesting choices.

Played two rounds of it for the first time last night. I think I only properly understood what I should be doing and planning come the end of the second game.
Definitely a load of fun though.

Yeah, I saw. Watching Moray have his disaster while trying to build an economic Death Star was fun. I picked up on it a bit faster when I first played, but I have past experience with Eminent Domain which has some very similar mechanics.

How did you find the group, BTW? I thought I'd just let you get on with it and meet people rather than say "Hi, these guys are my fault". :D

We had a great time. When we introduced ourselves from the OCUK forums they looked confused but we really enjoyed it.

I think we can make next Tuesday as well, baring any last minute changes to our work schedules. Hopeful we'll get to play a game we've tried before, then we may not suck so much!

Well, yeah - that's because I didn't tell anyone you were coming and I got there slightly later myself so I wasn't there to introduce you.

I'm glad you enjoyed yourselves, and now you've seen the games we play you might have an idea of what sort of thing you can bring. Generally there's a couple of people who'll play whatever, and if there isn't then someone will have brought something you would like.

Got a copy of "Gloom - Cuthulu" in the post this morning had half a game with the mrs before i had to go to work.

The way the cards are designed is great, clear plastic cards so effects from previous cards and modifiers show through. Half the game is about telling the story and making it as involved as possible. So might be a good way to get the mrs involved :)

Yep, it's great. Especially when drunk. :D

Remembering other people's individual storylines and winding down your own roads towards your key phrases is brill, alongside hearing what everyone else does to yours.

Lots of creative fun.
