I passed:D wooo

2001-2005 clio. Great looks and a nice engine range. The 1.2 16v (dynamique) would probably do the job nicely for a first car, thats what i'm looking at anyway.

Right ok, i might as well look at other cars other than the corsa, so what do you think i should look then?

Don't let other people persaude you, buy what you want.

Not long ago I was following a nice black Corsa 1.2 16v and he gave it some beans and it was suprisingly quick

yup seen similar, driving to work was following a bird in a black 1.2 sxi, looked quite nice and she gave it some beans.
i know they have a crappy 1.2 engine, is it a 3cyclinder 12v or something? avoid it if u can and find a 16v one.

Its the right thing to do, even if you end up buying a Corsa. At the moment you might buy a Corsa not knowing about everything else.

If you look at loads of small cars, you can pick the one you like best. It might still be the Corsa, but if it is, it'll be the Corsa with you KNOWING you looked at everything else and thought the Corsa was the best car :)

I would look at:

Renault Clio
Ford Fiesta
VW Polo
Toyota Yaris

Tbh Fox and rG-tom, i just see it as if you're happy with what you've got, why should you have people have a go at you for it? I just don't understand it at all. That relates to everything like this.
If they're happy with the purchase, does anything else really matter? I just don't see the point in it at all

because she hasnt got it yet. It'd be like her posting that she was going to get a V3, you'd be noooooo don't get it there are better phones etc etc, and us going "oh ignore haly, she's making completely valid points etc, but if you like it just get it.", when she wasnt actually sure she wanted it and had only suggested that she liked the look of it.....and was purely going from looks.

Bad analogy but you get the gist :)

Tom.

If Tinkerbell tries 2 or 3 other cars and likes the Corsa best and buys that instead though, surely she'll feel better as she knows 100% it is the best car for her.

I agree personal choice counts more that anything else, but it's important to make an informed decision.

I agree about making an informed decision, it just seemed a bit aggressively phrased :p Just seemed harsh and unfair imo but *shrugs* Never mind.

Not having a dig, but how does it seem harsh and unfair :s she hasn't bought it yet, the only thing we're flaming is the corsa.......and it needs stressing to someone who (as far as we know) has very limited knowledge about cars :)

If at the end of the day does choose a corsa after looking at other cars, then fair play, we tried, and we'll let her be happy with her purchase :)

Tom.

I'm quite ashamed to admit I quite like the look of the new puntos and clios that have just come out

Indeed, to add to th other side of the argument, my other half drives a corsa and really likes it. The only thing it isn't ideal for is long motorway journeys and it may soon be changed for that reason, but around town etc it's fine.

Becuase she hasn't bought anything yet - there is still plenty of time to give her the advice she needs to make an informed decision on the best car for her. If she decides a Corsa is best for her AFTER looking at all the options then cool, thats fine. They are rubbish but she'll have decided its best for her and she'll be happy with the purchase.

Currently, she's not looked at anything else - it makes sense to make her aware that, actually they are not that good and there are better buys around. How is she expected to know otherwise?

I refer you to my games console and digital camera analogy.

If they're happy with the purchase, does anything else really matter? I just don't see the point in it at all

This is a discussion forum, if all we were allowed to do when someone posts 'I'm going to get a Corsa' is say 'OMFG LEET' what would be the point in the forum?

Being happy becuase you don't know any better is a bit, naff really. Being happy becuase you know deep down you looked at all the options and chose the best one for YOU is surely far better, right?

/drags thread, kicking and screaming, back on topic :p

Well done Tink - congrats.
I'm sure I've said this before? ;)

I dont know why you all think i havent looked at other cars before, like i have looked at the clio, the punto, not the yaris but that is because i dont like it that much. Just because im a girl doesnt mean i know nothing about cars.

I see where haly is coming from as when i read some of your posts they seem harsh and not necessary in the way you have talked, but that just a view i had because you were having a go at the car i like most and making me seem like an idiot for wanting one.

Something else i have to consider is the car insurance as i havent got an unlimited amount of money to spend and the cheapest quote i have had is for the corsa 1.2 at £1495.

Thankyou everyone who has congratulated me and adviced me on buying a car:)

What IG is the corsa now, thats sounds like a horrible quote for a girl.

Buy something reliable is my advice, cars are only usefull when they go forward under their own power regardless of any other Vunderbaaar feature that is a must have.

A quick google gave this -

http://autotrader.reliabilityindex.co.uk/top10.html?apc=11310987377436538

It shows Mazda to be twice as reliable as Fiat (roughly)

The bottom 10 makes
http://autotrader.reliabilityindex.co.uk/top10_worst.html?apc=11310987377436538

Also you can click on the make and specify the indivual model for more detail, boring but usefull. Get break down cover and a car parts warranty if you can since they are both pretty cheap really
