Really wanted to like this game when it came out, but just wasnt impressed. Can't remember all the things I disliked, but performance was one, and what really killed it was this one dumping ground for cars early on when some bandits come after you - they just kept spawning and spawning.

Oh, there was also the excellent aiming of the NPC's whilst I couldn't hit a brick wall if it was 2 feet in front of me.

If I can pick this up for under £5, I might try it again with the mods above.

I managed to pick it up for £7 new from a high street shop this week.

how do I install the skygraphics mod into an game install on Vista?

The readme says to overwrite the 'gamedata' folder but I don't have one in my installation folder.

Just copy over the gamedata dir from the zip folder into the installation dir

C:\Program Files (x86)\THQ\S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Shadow of Chernobyl

also don't forget to change fsgame file text

$game_data$ = true| true| $fs_root$| gamedata\

ok thanks

When I change the fsgame text it doesnt want to save the changes, which is rather annoying.

Have this kicking around somewhere. Bought it when it first came out and was shocked at how bad it was. The aiming was appauling. Iron sights were worse than normal crosshairs and it took far too many bullets to kill people!!

Has this been sorted out in patches or is the aiming and super-human strength that wastes all your ammo still present?

I'm not really feeling Clear Sky yet, played for quite a few hours now and it's not coming close to SoC. I never had issues with SoC, not like CS...

I love what the patch has done to optimise the performance. My pc wassn't happy with calculating the graphics before. But now it's smooth! Having only a 3870 I thought I was going to be limited. Alas, I was not! Happy days. Thanks for directing my attention to these. (Granted I was skeptic about the russian site...)

I seem to be able to run it near max on my 2900xt without many problems so your 38 should have none at all

Was meaning to give Oblivion Lost a go after hearing so much praise so thanks to the OP for giving me the nudge, installed the mods last night and the improvements to both graphics, AI and gameplay are great, well reccomended.

Thanks for the OP! I downloaded it all and started playing again. I didn't run the skymod though as my graphics isn't up to much and I take a big hit, plus it made it just a bit too difficult to play in some respects.

Oblivion's great though, love it. Much more difficult too.

I bought this a bit ago for £5 and loved it, I just stopped playing it and I'am at Pripyat at the mo. I don't have the mods or the 1.5 patch if I instaleld the patch or the mods would I lose all save game data and have to start again? As it is I think it is the dogs danglies. The atmosphere is superb. Hopefully Clear skies will end up as good intime. As it is aI hear pretty negative reviews. Which is exactly what I heard about SoC which is why I stalled from buying it for so long.
