Yes, it's called buying a better CPU and stop being so tight if they are serious about gaming on PC.

Running an i3 6100 8gb ram and 1060 6GB in my wifes rig, it runs BF1 at Ultra 1080p 80-90fps. I saw it drop in to the 70s once but that's all. Great performance. It runs at 100% CPU and 90+% GPU utilisation so a good pairing.
OPs problem is the GPU.

Right, everyone but you is wrong, even the OP's experience confirming what everyone but you knows is pebcak......
We have concluded the 470 needs an quad to get the best out of BF1, Nvidia can get away with an i3.
He needs to switch to DX12 as AMD do better with lesser CPU's in DX12
Defo worth a try. Benchmarks have shown DX12 performance is normally worse but nothing to lose in trying it out.

Thanks guys will go with the 6600k then
6600k is a waste if not overclocking. Get an i5 6500 from cex at 135 and run at stock or if you have z170 overclock it. There will be little in it with them both at stock.
Kind of bottlenecking the i3 with 2133 mems. z170 should have taken priority. Digital foundry has shown how the 6100 benefits from faster memory in CPU limited situations.
You can only do that on Z170 though right? My Asus H110 is running the 2400mhz I have at 2133, if I remember correctly.
