i34 attendance thread

Mainly just CS:S, and WiC at the moment.

Edit: Any idea if they're going to be having the 'turn up and play' tickets again? Getting my machine all the way down from here would be a right pain :P

Forgive my ignorance about the i series, but I've been curious about them but never asked questions. I'm guessing that its just a large lan party. From what I've read in this thread, do you sit roughly divided into games? As if so, what if you want to change to a different game?

Me and my friends aren't 'hardcore' gamers by any stretch of the word, we just play for fun. Whats the skill level of the people who turn up to these events? I'm guessing there's a fair few who play way too much ;)

yes its a large lan party. you sit in areas based on games so you can, in theory, jump into on going games that may interest you / meet like minded gamers. That is all, there isnt a move about if you change games or whatever, your just more likely to have more to chat about if you only play RTS and sit in the RTS section, than if you sat in the kiddies / CSS section. ;)

as far as skill levels, yeah obviously the kind of people who go to lans are more hardcore than casual gamers (as a generalisation) but even playing 12 hours a day cant help some people :) I generally come top 5 on FPS games, and win 75% of the time on RTS games online, and drop slightly on both at LAN parties.

That said, the atmosphere and being sat near the guys your playing with is well worth it, even if you only go once.

All depends on how many people from MX go, im up for it :D

Im pretty sure they are, check the site, im too tired to atm sorry :(

You don't need to be a good gamer to go to these. I went to i31 with my clan and we played all sorts of game to all sorts of standards. Our best 5 bf2 players won the bf2 tourny vs dignitas but the team i was on placed 8th or something equally poor. Also took part in the 2142 tourney.
Had an absolute blast.
You can play whatever game you want - doesn't matter the section you are in. i guess if you're playing a tourny it helps to be sitting in that section for organisation purposes.
There was also about 25 of us in total which helps.

Just payed for me ticket, me n vipes will be attending. Look out RTS section, here i come! (not that i even play rts... should be a laugh :D)

My fault :D

I just wanted to sit in the rts area to annoy sir_loui and Djinn :D:D

(not that i'm really that immature...)

I'm booked :)

BYOC + Twin bedroom at the Hostel ;)

Our lineup is also booked xD

Booked the time off work for it, so i'll probably be going. No idea what section to sit in though, no 1.6 section and there was apparently a lot of hassle with source kiddies at the last i-series.

No age restriction

If your under 16 you need parental letter thing

18 for alcohol etc etc...

umm el dazza you can sit anywhere you like, come and join us in the cod4 section :D

yeh i dont think ill be able to get there this time . probably definatly next time. nearly 17 and by the time i can drive (you know) . think there will be a any videos of it as its happening ?

haha, ZeuZ is trying to steal my seat for your clan :D seems like a top bloke tbh.

Infact, i'm sat only a few seats down from you at the end of the row...

When you sign up, you do have to specify what section you're sitting in - that's about the only fixed thing about the event. Once you're there, you can play any game you like.

Skill level varies immensely, the i-series does attract a lot of pro clans playing for the prize moneys available, so some of the tournaments can be pretty high skilled. However, there are loads of fun tourneys and pickup games to get involved with.

It's not just a LAN party though, there's plenty of other activities - scoring swag from exhibitors, pub quiz, DDR, football (as in actually playing it), plus the "spot the kid away from home and p*ssed off his t*ts" comedy moments :D

afraid £80 is a bit dear for me this time :),
not been hearing good things about ixx events for a couple of years now, attracting a new type of crowd maybe? or were just getting old ><
One i went to was i30, which was cool if a bit chlostraphobic

Will be down again to spectate and meet up with some friends but to play? No way.

Whole thing has become far too big and commercialised. Unless you're attending in a clan with the intention of playing in the tourneys there's nothing much to do. i-series doesn't cater for the casual gamer any more, there are far better alternatives for those of us who just want to play some casual games and have a laugh.
