point taken - myself and Yewen do our very best to find the most unnecessary cooling solutions you can find
the reason we didnt do a run on air is simple
there are no high end air coolers available for the socket as yet and i mentioned that an EK supreme would fit
the gigabytes need a little work doing to the bioses, but the quality of the boards are excellent - i have seen the ud4 up close and it is a cracking piece of kit
also tested the ripjaw memory, you are in for a treat!
Thats good to hear. Just have to wait on the 1156 bracket for my H50 now

4.5 is very very impressive...what do you think it can do on air though? And am I right in thinking that you can get the Phenom 955 to hit 4.0 on air?
Any knowledge of the cheaper Gigabyte boards rjkoneill? Particularly looking at the UD3 myself - in my experience Gigabyte boards clock pretty nicely, but what are they like in the lower price bracket? From the pics it doesn't look like there's a whole lot of stuff to deal with heat; is this going to be a problem?
Or is the £115 Asus the best to go for in this price range?
EDIT: Cheers for the clocking info by the way, looks amazing! Think it's made up my mind to break my wallet and go Intel![]()
Run one under a H50 quickly and the faith balance is restored
EDIT just remembered you don't have the 1156 plate![]()
i have emailed corsair now asking for one
i will NOT order this i5 for some reason is:
i7 cores is the best one! 8 threads is the best one! full stop!

I don't suppose you've had a play with the boards that MSI will be offering at a discount have you?
i havent - but Yewen has
i would do the following board wise
Asus Deluxe for big clocks/bells and whistles
Giga UD4/UD3 for VFM/performance balance
MSI for a mega cheap upgrade
Your email didn't go like this did it?
Dear Corsair Blokes,
rjk from OcUK here.
the forums are having a moan
send us an h50 bracket for i5 before i get into trouble

So why have the MSI boards not been listed yet?!
