Hell yeah your right!! (obviously :p ) I was reading that last night.

I bet next set of CPU's out in 6 months with new stepping will be more or less like X58 chipset same goes for next revision of motherboards (different bios)

Intels way of masterbaiting current & new users in the future to upgrade on the very same platform.

************** ;)

from what i have seen the current lynfields clock similarly to the C0 i7's

higher voltages being the main difference

i have added a poll to see what i should do with the thread

the public will decide :D

no comments on the 860 results?

I'll leave the beta testing to your good self but I'll dive in when a bit more mature and 32nm is out!

Polls up.

Don't Vote for yourself wayne!:D

Everyone knows that My idea to have seperate threads is the way forward. Not only in helping the OCUK community but allowing easier comparisons, tips and clocks:)

***The Official Core i7 Lynnfield Overclocking Thread***

I am glad that my i7 920 is far better than these new i7 860 as look at these awful temperature went up to 79C with a vcore of 1.344v and it was crazy 3.8ghz for that temperature!

I am going to stick with my i7 920 D0. I shall wait for the new i9 core. But thanks again for post the result rich.

I know it's time consuming but would be nice if the thread creator for the i5 / 7 threads devises some sort of spreadsheet which is updated on say a weekly basis.

Include forum name, batch number, multi used / bclk used maybe, voltages, cpu clock i.e 3.7ghz / 3.8ghz or whatever, cooling method & temps per core at idle & load.

i will leave that to easyrider

i havent got the time to put into spreadsheets
ocuk is very busy at the moment :)

It's a very time consuming process but yeah I agree its something a thread creator should attempt to do, that would be a real assett to the OcUK community! :)

easyrider always promised to do this sort of thing but thus far as never delivered! :(

He just makes the threads when he doesn't have the hardware and historically gets in a huff over peoples screenshots! :D

One day soon we will all be working togther and OcUK forums will be one of the best technical resources in the word!
