i7 4790k to Ryzen 1800x, worth it?

ok guys, I haven't touched my CPU and never overclocked it, ok? I have just checked with CPU-Z and my Core speed is sitting at 4398.97mhz most of the time, now and then it will drop to 4299mhz or 4199mhz but it mainly stays at 4398.97mhz @ 1.262V. I assume then that my CPU is running in its turbo state most of the time. Is it worthwhile overclocking???? (I now have a Corsair H100i V2 liquid cooler installed)

I watched a video yesterday of a 7700k running at 4ghz and it running at 5ghz, side by side, there was pretty much zero difference in performance in current titles...

Ive joined the OC clan! A very nice and helpful chap who is a friend of a friend has just overclocked my i7 4790k to 4.6ghz @ 1.25v and runs perfectly stable.

I am an owner of the i7-4790k and even whilst doing the most tasking things it doesn't struggle or come close to struggling. It is a beast and as others said it shouldn't need upgrading for quite some time.

Anyone got 4770k?

Gimme some good oc settings please? :D

And yeah OP I wouldn't upgrade personally. I was thinking the same thing but the improvement isn't really there for me.... maybe a bit for 3d work I do but I need to force blender to use my GPU instead.

4790k is great if its delided even better , i have it running 4.5 all cores with 1.168v i think lover then stock not sure. i have 360 rad on it i can do 4.8 and more , but why bother rather have it cooler quieter .

Edit: in other words no its not worth it wait till intel makes some sort 6 core cpu with kabylake ipc

Best thing to do as a fairly casual overclocker is to slap some offset on your voltages and put the 2/3/4 core turbo multipliers up, should be quite simple (depending on your motherboard)
