Just wondering about my temps, at stock been running Prime for about an hour

they seem a little high? running on a Corsair H50-1 push pull

I did up the bus speed to 190ish and tweeked the memory also and managed 4ghz ish but when running Prime at that speed it got up to 96 degrees!!:eek:

Something isn't quite right here.

These temps seem really high for a H50 with 2 fans fitted.

Have you tried reseating the H50?

Most people running these with the i920's @ 4GHz are hitting around the mid 70's, so 96c would suggest that something isn't quite right!

::edit::

Also, why is RealTemp only showing temps for 3 cores??

He is running the GT version of the App. Not really sure what this is but that is why it is showing what it is. @OP - Just use the standard RealTemp.

Temps are way to high. Reseat your H50 with a new application of thermal paste and check all your fans are running correctly (right direction/speed). What case do you have?

cheers for the replies, I have already reseated the H50, temps went up

CM690 case I have two Scythe Gentle Typhoon's in pushpull on the H50-1

I will run a 10min Prime with the regular RT

Did you re-apply TIM when you reseated the H50?

When you screwed it down, did you do this in a criss-cross pattern, and did you make sure the screws were screwed in fully??

And you have fitted the fans properly for Push/Pull, right??

Just throwing some ideas out, as there is definitely something wrong here..

aye re applied mx3, screwed down in crisscross.

push pull (I will double check I didnt put push push LOL!) and I'm confused!

A quick 10min Prime using the regular RT

As long as the fans are both running the same way this is odd. Are they being used as an intake (in which case the 7550 crossfire may be throwing out loads of heat that the H50 draws in) or as exhaust (in which case the inside of the case may be too hot)?

push pull as an exhaust, my next question is. when I turn the rad upside down on the H50 I can hear the water/coolant sloshing around - logic says if its a closed loop system surely there should be NO air in there

oh and the last screenprint, I had the side off of the case so yeah weird!

Ah. Yeah, I don't think this should be making a sloshing noise, you may have a dud cooler. It's not leaking I hope.

At stock settings with the side off the H50 should be doing much better than this. How much paste are you using to mount it?

theres definitely a slosh - dammit. absolutely no leaking!

used nice blob, nothing excessive - the amount I usually use and have done for the last...10years

I think you're going to have fun rma'ing this. How does it cope if you overclock a bit? It might hold this temperature at much higher clocks, especially if your stock voltage is fairly high.

If the temps increase sharpish then I think it's time for a webnote to ocuk. Good luck

Ahh. I missed that, sorry. Definitely rma time I'm afraid. Corsair are awesome but based in the Netherlands so going through the retailer is probably best. Mention that it sounds like it's full of air.

Hmmm, when I fitted my dad's H50 a few weeks ago, there was definitely no "sloshing" sounds coming from his unit..

I'd say this is more than likely the problem.

Thanks for all the replies, I have no logged an RMA with OcUK and will be returning it - hopefully get a replacement! I will not be happy if it is found to be working correctly..

Someone on the Corsair forum also said it sounds very odd and I should RMA it so that kinda put my mind at ease.

Cheers

well I'm not happy, apparently its working fine...

I had better not be charged for return carriage.

Lets see if I get an improvement on the temps once its back

You'll be charged for return carriage and probably a £10 handling fee, I'd call them immediately and ask them on what grounds they think it's fine. If it's making a sloshing sound it should be pretty obvious that it's not great, and putting it on an overclocked chip should have made it pretty clear that it's not doing well.

Support forum is worth a shot too.

yeah definitely worth a shot, considering thats going to cost me £20/25 I could have spent the extra and got a new one! They replied with

"Tested and working fine running prime 95 temps no higher than 50oC. please ensure you have installed this correctly and used the required amount of thermal paste."

Whenever I have RMA'd stuff for work I've never had the supplier do the testing they have just replaced straight away no questions asked...very odd

Support is good, and turn around time is good but I'm not happy with the outcome
