ICC Champions trophy SA **Spoilers**

Hmmm i wonder if the people who said they couldnt give a toss about ODI cricket ie JohnnyG and Rich L are eating their words seeing as England are more or less through to the semi's:p

Spawn - in all honesty, whilst I'd like to see England win, I really don't care for it very much. This series is nice and compact though which makes a change.

This. Even the most interesting matches have still suffered from the tired middle overs which plague the format. It's good to see England do well of course, but I'm not sure what it shows, other than in a '1-leg' competition, anyone can win an ODI and go through.

i.e. witness the Windies 2nd team almost beating Pakistan and Australia

Couldn't you level that criticism about any '1-leg' competition, like say FA Cup football?

Could you please link to the post or posts where I've said that I don't give a toss about ODI's?

I feel the same as well...ive been watching a few games and i find myself getting bored of them...really the only time i watch is the run chase as that seems to be the most exciting part of the game...well sometimes:p

Although i did watch England bat yesterday...i was flicking between channels and would only go back to the game every so often...

Personally i think they should do away with the Champs trophy...keep the 50 over WC but shorten it to the Champs trophy type of format...the last WC was too long and strung out...but honestly i think 20/20 is where its at...its much more exciting and the players tend to play outrageous shots which makes for interesting batting etc.

Anyhow its great to see England for once do well after the battering they received a few weeks ago at the hands of the Aussies...if anything England sure cant complain that they havent had any ODI practice;):p.

I was actually going to turn it off after Denly got out and wait till the end of the innings, and then Shah went and hit an outrageous six off about his 7th ball which made me think something might happen!

Aus playing India right now, anyone else following it? Aus going very well at the moment, batting first after winning the toss.

Watching bits and pieces of it...Aussies hammering India at the moment...Ponting and Paine setting up a nice partnership...similar to what England did yesterday against SA.

If the Aussies get over 300 then India are going to have a hell of a time chasing it down...all dependant on how well the Aussies bowl that is...

Funnily enough once Strauss was out...i thought to myself oh here we go again...England with a spectacular batting collapse but Shah and Collingwood just hammered the SA bowlers all over the place...was quite surprised at how badly SA bowled yesterday.

Looks like they'll be pushing 280/300 at this rate, thought my reliance on sterile cricinfo ball-by-ball updates is making it pretty hard to really gauge the match.

Hmmm looks like India got a respite with the rain coming down when it did...the Aussies were on a charge and would have easily made about 300 or so.

Will be interesting to see what the D/L method comes up with as a target for India to win.
