As terrible a disease as it is, and as good a thing as raising awareness and money for it is, I can't but feel it's all a bit unfair. A disease that affects less than 2 people per 100,000 is currently getting more attention and awareness than diseases that kill millions, year in, year out and are still chronically underfunded. It's non-existent in terms of the global burden of disease. Could it be because those diseases don't generally kill white people? Hmm.
