Ice Bucket Challenge

Problem with this is..

Most of the people are not even using ice, I bet its coldish or luke warm water..

I have only seen a few people do ice

Should call it ALS getting wet challenge

Charlie sheen ice bucket challenge, he drops 10k dollars on his head instead and says he'll donate it to an ALS foundation and called on three more celebrities to do the same.

A bunch of rich people who make millions a year make videos and a bunch of by comparison poor people give $10 each to ALS in the thousands or even millions and they get $15mil in donations. But if the lets say 200 celebs who have done the icebucket challenge all gave a million quid, which the majority could afford rather than just their time to promote awareness... how much would there be for research?

Fact is Charlie sheen put his money where his mouth was and asked other rich people to do the same thing he did. I respect Charlie Sheen for doing it himself and not just making a video to help get OTHER people to donate.

Fact is some of them may have donated, but Charlie Sheen actually called out for other (already rich) people to donate large amounts. If I was rich I'd be doing the same thing, donating a substantial amount and asking other rich people to do the same.

The attitude of "I made a video so I helped hugely", it's not inaccurate, it likely gets lots of people donating who otherwise wouldn't..... but it's still a bunch of VERY wealthy people passing off the responsibility to actually donate to people no where near as well off as them.

I got a whole glass full of ice tonight and then added cider. Then, I went hardcore and instead of tipping it on myself I drank it - ice cold directly to the inside.

Haven't raised any money yet though.

Same ridiculous people complaining as the last viral charity campaign.
It's raising awareness and making massive amounts of money. $11.6m more compared to the same time frame last year. Which is roughly a 10x increase.

If it makes people go find out what it's for, raises awareness of motor neurones even just a bit and gets people donating then it's done a good thing.

My partners grandad died from it a few years ago so will give this a go, every donation helps. Even if you think it's a pointless fad, just give a couple of quid anyway for a cause that doesn't get a lot of publicity.

I just find the idea that people need an Internet fad to be aware or illness or charity pretty depressing from the onset. Not to mention public acts of charity are more about being seen to be charitable than any actual genuine concern.

This fad just appears to be wasting perfectly good drinking water (in most cases).

The whole thing is made worth it just from a couple of the fails posted online

Thank the Lordah for the Internetah

I don't know why people complain about these kind of things. If money goes to charity who cares if there are other reasons for celebs to do this stuff?
