Ice Bucket Challenge

i got nominated today, bloody facebook.
i don't want to do it but am quite happy to donate to the charity - i shall conduct a sociological experiment, not do it, and see what they say.

I've just myself been nominated, and while I'm not interested in doing it, it's just a bit of cold water that gets a short laugh and will be fixed with a 5 minute shower, and I don't mind donating to charity as well.

Though, and this will divide some, I'm not convinced just one charity should benefit from it just because it's gone viral - in my opinion other charities (big and small) shouldn't be shunned because they didn't come up with a viral theme, or were involuntarily selected in someone else's viral theme. It's not like ALS haven't gained enormous financial reward and recognition already, so I will probably donate to a charity closer to my heart.

I've done mine tonight which involved me shoving ice cubes down my shorts and all around my meat and two veg, sitting in an ice paddling pool, slowly tipping a bucket full of ice water all over me and not a quick throw and then finishing off with the paddling pool over me. Even then I wasn't that cold except for my balls.

I've just been nominated! Can't say I'm looking forward to having a bucket full of ice water poured over me first thing in the morning, but it's for a good cause.

So I have not been activated on facebook for over 5 months, I log on tonight while bored, caved in and the first post (video) I click on is one of a guy from work, only to see he nominated ME even though I am not to be found on social media sites (for a while now too). strange! it did however make me quickly deactivate as it spooked me some what lol, I'm not the most popular guy either.

I do not see the point myself and I will donate but unfortunately where I work people will be more peed at not to see me soaked in cold water and call me out even that I have donated...

edit: im climbing a not so great rock on friday so will do it at the top of there!

I started quite the argument in my social circle by asking people why they were actually doing it. No one can answer, most responses were "because I've been nominated" yes but why actually do it? What is the purpose? "Because I've been nominated" at this point I may have resorted to expletives whilst bashing myself unconscious off a wall.

Most people blindly follow a "craze" without any knowledge of the purpose behind it or if there even is a purpose, they just form an orderly queue and follow the sheep infront. When I asked them if they would stick a knife through their hand if I nominated them they all said no, WELL THEN WHY POUR A BUCKET OF ICE OVER YOUR HEAD BECAUSE SOMEONE ASKED YOU RETARD!?

People are idiots, especially in a crowd and I'm sure more than a few marketing experts/psychologists will be watching this unfolding idiocy with glee.

For the record, before someone calls me a spoilsport and blabs about charity, I made a donation to charity but I'm not pouring stuff over my head because the internet tells me I must.

Baaaaaaaaaaaaa

/rant.

This brought quite a chuckle. Would you agree todays generation, well the majority have become really dumb and ignorant? Everything seems to be popularity contests, obsessed with Likes and if you don't follow, it's this strange single out attitude.

I am not going to give in to peer pressure..plenty of people at work have nominated me

however it me who chooses what and when I donate to charity..not an internet fad

half the people doing this now have no idea why they are doing it

I find it so sad school days have caught up with adults all over again.

Or some people donate to charity/charities anyway regards of some stupid internet craze.

Plus they don't need publicity and craze to make them feel good. A lot of people donate quietly, including celebrities/A-list stars.

I'm skint, but was nominated tonight, I got tomorrow free before my holiday. So I'll fill up a paddling pool with 50/50 ice and water. Belly flop should do the trick.

Did mine on Monday, donated too, which isn't perhaps as common as it could/should be. It's having a fantastic affect on funding for the charities.

It's all starting to get a bit boring now.... Still it's definitely boosted awareness so if anything that's a good thing.

I donate to the battersea dogs & cats home via direct debit every month.

Animal welfare comes before the human race IMO

One appeared last night on my timeline of Lucy going to a bowl of what could be warm water, she throws a cup of ice in and then immediately throws it over herself :D

"Oh Lucy you are wonderful"
"Excellent Lucy, I couldn't do it"
and so on.
