Hey

Just found 2 of these in my garden, any ideas what they are? I'm guessing cats are to blame though!

Cheers,

Scratch that I've just found another one that looks the same but it's still breathing! What can I do to help it? it keeps opening and closing it's mouth

Put it out of it's misery. I've done it to a few birds. It's not nice, but there's really no point in taking it to the vet or lengthening it's suffering. Just make sure your aim is strong and true.

I mean, if it was an owl or an eagle, sure, take it to the vet. But if it's just a common starling...

Will be best to just kill it if it's the same age as the one pictured. They're too young to look after themselves, and the mother is unlikely to still be around and willing to take it back if a cat/crow has been at it. Don't let anyone see you though, as Starlings were taken off the UK pest list a while back, so technically illegal to kill it.

That or raise him yourself then train him as an assassin?

If that's not the first they've probably fallen from a nest, we've got one in our bloody roof found two dead little ones the other day.
