I have a 22" and 40".

I have not used my 22" for weeks until today and now it seems tiny.

I have 360 for windows controller and play all my pc games HDMI on 40", even browsing recently.

Now I have gone back to 22" it feels absolutely tiny like a psp or gameboy lol.

However, IMO for fps gaming online 40" is too big and I need to use keys+ mouse not controller.

Also I notice that there is much less lag and tear on the 22" vs 40"...off course the 22" is 2ms monitor LCD made for PC whereas 40" is just an HDTV.

This aint a problem for most games tbh I just notice when playing football games tbh, pro evo soccer.

I am thinking off buying a 24" for my fps games. its only 2" more though so will I even notice?

Sitting at a desk. I'd use one of my 24" screens.

Sat like I was playing on a TV further away, I'd use... my TV.

I don't see any scenario where you'd want to use one for the others intended purpose.

i game on a 22" screen but im in the middle of upgrading my rig and im replacing my monitor with a 24". Although ive only had my 22" for 2 years i feel the upgrade is worth it.

I tend to play the xbox on a 42" but for some reason i prefer gaming on the 22"

23" here.

Couldn't justify spending double the cost for Dells 24 ips panel :(

soon to be another 2 23's for eyefinity though

27" at 1900x1220 works well for me.

I could just do with something like a 10" screen to hang off the sides, for vent, and stuff like that.

So do you prefer gaming on large screen on bed etc..or at desk on smaller screen?

For me the only benefit off small screen is I seem to do better on competitive fps games.

I game on 19" 1440 res because it gives me 75hz, whereas my 23" LCD gives me 60hz which is slow as hell. Ideally would love a 23" 120hz monitor :)

My monitor is an LG 27" TV Monitor at 1920x1080 and i like it, wouldn't mind a similar monitor at 30"-32" though, i have my DVD player, Xbox 360, N64, Gamecube etc, all hooked up to it, so a TV Monitor is essential for me.

You don't need more than 60Hz and you only need 120Hz for 3D stuff for an equivalent 60Hz.

Please do explain how a refresh rate of 60Hz is "slow" and why it has any impact on your viewing? (other than locking FPS to 60 with VSYNC on)

Put me in the 26 inch (1920x1200) bracket for single screen gaming. I can use a 24 inch (1920x1080) without feeling constricted. I used to use a 20 inch (1600x1200 Dell) for ages and thought that was the bees knees. Tried it again recently as it's on the son's PC now, and it felt noticeably smaller than I'm used to. Guess it's what you're used to.

I tried a game of Burnout recently on the HTPC which is a 32 inch screen. the problem was that I was so much further away from it that it felt like playing a game n my phone.

I would say the right size isn't the question as it's relative to how far away you're sitting. The important thing is how much of your vision is taken up by the screen, which is why I personally find Eyefinity so nice to use as pretty much all your vision is the game (not trying to dereail the thread, some like multi-screen, some hate it, just saying I personally love it).

I use a 22" monitor for browsing at my desk and do all of my gaming (bar RTS) on my 32" TV from my sofa. Occasionally if i am playing an online fps i will sit closer

I am considering a 24" monitor, as my 22" is rubbish, around 8 years old now. Ridiculous native resolution, and they seem reasonably cheap atm tbh.

I'm also thinking of maybe scrapping both and getting a quality 27" monitor, but i think i'd miss the extra screen size tbh
