.. would he win everything up against Alonso and Co? This is assuming he's the same driver, same age as he was in the 80's and 90's, but time travelled to today. He's built up such a legendary status as the best driver ever, taking a car beyond it's design capabilities. So I really wonder if he would have stomped over the other drivers and won most grand prixs and championships if he was a young driver in the 21st century?

There is absolutely no way of knowing. You could ask the same of any of the legends - Fangio, Moss, Rosemeyer, Nuvolari (hail to Nuvolari!) Clark, Hill, Stewart, Villeneuve, Peterson - the list goes on.
This sort of thread comes up in the football forum quite a lot, there's no real way of telling how a pro from one era would have stacked up against a pro from another era.

Senna would have been Great at anything he did at any time. Nobody is or will ever be an equal to Senna as that time has passed unfortunately.
I think an easier question to ask is would Modern day drivers be as good if they risked there lives at every single bend like back in the day, I don't think so.
In my opinion the only sport like it these days is the TT & the North West 200.

Well, he raced in an era before traction control, racing was more pure and he won everything.

What I remember best is that when it rains, he usually wins, he is unparallel in the wet. I don't have the same expectation for any modern day drivers.

Then again, who knows, it is impossible to tell.

Also, he had to take his hand off the wheel regularly to shift gear. No paddles then, at least, not for the early part of his career.

he would probably be banned from formula one after his first race.

think maldonado x10

schumacher was already starting to beat him in the early 90s anyway.

im sure if schumacher would have died in 2005 he would be rememered as better than senna

I generally tend to think that too. Sportsman are often elevated to loftier heights if they die. Could Senna have gone on to win 7 championships or more had he not been killed? We'll never know unfortunately, but as you say, schumacher was starting to beat him, so, probably not.

Who knows. Hill nearly (and in my eyes, actually still did) beat Schumacher in 1994, in the midst of the team still recovering from Senna's death. Any bookie would have had very short odds on Senna finishing ahead of Hill in the standings that year - so perhaps he would have won the 1994 WDC.

Hill didn't do so well in 1995, but the car was a match for the Benetton, so perhaps Senna would have won in 1995 too. With such a dominant car in 1996, Hill quite possibly would have ended up playing number 2 to a Senna whitewash that year.

Perhaps, with Senna then a 6 times champion and Schumacher never having won in 94/95, Ferrari wouldn't have taken him on board and he would have stuck with Benetton/Renault into the early 2000s in an uncompetetive car...?

But this is all obviously total conjecture...!

Ah 94 when they took away MS 2nd at Silverstone and gave him a 2 race ban for overtaking on the formation lap, Damon would not have been close.

Yes but Schumi "didn't see" his black flag, and was disqualified - it happened, and these things happen. Hill capitalised by winning 3 races on the trot and put himself in real contention for the title, that's how motor racing works.

The real reason I'm referring to (as I'm sure you know) was Schumacher's deliberate crash into Hill in Adelaide in an attempt to take the Williams out, knowing that his mistake and bump into the wall had cost him the race, and the title.

Yeah but without taking 2nd away at Silverstone and banning him for 2 races then Adelaide would have been a nothing race and Hill was never close to winning the title until the FIA decided to "keep it close".

There was no deliberate crash at Adelaide anyway.
