If You Could Live Anywhere Else in the UK, Where Would It Be?

Moved here from near Leeds 7 yrs or so ago, full on rural and blissfully located on a hill above the Camel and camel trail (I can cycle traffic free from my house to Padstow 17mls) but a short drive to Polzeath, rock Tintagel, port isaac, ect
I love the outdoor surf /walk lifestyle.
Up in Yorkshire for afew days at the moment but couldn't return,

Further west in Wales. Maybe north Wales.need to be near the sea and near hills and woods.

Last place I'd want to live is east anglia (grew up here, find it flat boring and coast its dull), Lincolnshire or the south east.

I've moved to Wales but live near Cardiff at the moment. Next stage is either NZ (unlikely) or nicer (more rural) wales.

But have heard there's a rhyly nice place in North Wales that isn't too expensive!

Back home in Cornwall, Newlyn, Penzance or somewhere else in Mounts Bay but unfortunately I will never be able to afford living there again.

Definitely down in Devon or Cornwall. So much more relaxed down there, and massive properties available for a reasonable price. Would love to get another boat, all of that stuff.

Reasons we dont: work and general connections, already live quite far from London (West Oxfordshire).

Somewhere southern and coastal, but ideally not too touristy. So i guess looking towards more isolated areas. There's not too much i'd need to travel for assuming work can remain remote.

We've often talked of a second home around Porthmadog/Nefyn in North Wales, but with the way working life is going with home working i'm not sure that'd be needed and whether we just jump ship completely. We also discussed Spain assuming our companies would entertain that idea and so hoping that something will happen with regards to free movement in the next few years. Alternatively my wife could get an Irish nationality which might make things easier.

If it wasn't for the rain, somewhere rural just inland from the North Wales coast would be perfect. Maybe IOW would be a good contender, perhaps near Ventnor, but I've no idea how it's changed since a summer hol we had there ~10 years ago.

I moved to mid Norfolk about 8 years ago in my mid 30s (got fed up of all the people and property prices in the south) and love it here - neigh on in the middle of no-where but not so far its impossible to get shopping etc. If i had to move it'd probably be somewhere similar, I do like the Costwolds but its a bit too posh in the bits i've visited...

anywhere there is a large amount of open space.....with not many people (no people if possible). I'd be quite happy walking around on my own all day, maybe get a dog for company.

Probably somewhere in or around Fort William.

You know what, I been there a couple of times and it is really nice, something nice about getting Haggis with your cheap pint in weatherspoons. Corpach over the bay is nice and quiet also.

......but.......

The weather there is always ****. I think it has the highest rainfall in the UK and cold and dark in the winter being that bit further north.

I think for the few nice days a year you'd get, you be miserable most of the rest of it. Not like there is a great deal to do around there when the weather is ****.

Somewhere rustic and quiet with great cycling and walking nearby. Preferably with good transport links so you're not cut off.

However, I also think a city pad would also be cool to have as well as a contrast (London). Would be good to mix up your residences, as it gets stale staying in one place!

Lakes would be a dream, a nice big Victorian house with a boathouse so I could go sailing everyday. Never going to happen but nice to dream!

It's got some of the best hiking and ski terrain in Scotland right on it's door step. That's my reason for going there.

Inside Holly Willoughbys knickers. Nice warm climate, lovely scenery and plenty to do.

but if I couldn’t do that, then definitely the Devon or Cornish coast.

Langdale Valley in the Lake District. Almost bought there last year but my wife vetoed it... If not there, then somewhere down in Devon/Cornwall.

If it had to be another city, then I've always kept an eye on Exeter or Bath.
