If You Could Live Anywhere Else in the UK, Where Would It Be?

Langdale Valley in the Lake District. Almost bought there last year but my wife vetoed it... If not there, then somewhere down in Devon/Cornwall.

If it had to be another city, then I've always kept an eye on Exeter or Bath.
We walked around there last week (skelwith force - dungeon ghyll loop) - gorgeous part of the country.

Yeah it's lovely - would normally head up there a few times a year pre-pandemic. I'd recommend heading to the other end of the valley too - Bowfell, Blisco, Lingmoor Feel, Crinkle Crags, etc. You could spend a week in that valley and do a different walk each day.

It's also an amazing start/end point to do Scafell Pike too.

Surprised with so many people saying Wales. I must be missing something because everytime I have been other then Snowdonia, it all seems a dump to me. Pretty much most of England is pretty crap as well. If money was no issue then most definitely in Chelsea or some fancy part of Central London. Other then that can't think of to many places. Maybe Oxfordshire, The Slaughters in the Cotswolds or Bristol. Cornwall is pretty but think I'd get bored pretty quickly.

I think if you want to live in Chelsea you are definitely not going to like Wales.

They are very different, it's not you're missing something, just different interests.

Not much of Cardiff seems up market. Which is why I like it!
Central London would be the last place I'd want to live as I'm an outdoorsy type.
(note, Chelsea may or may not be in Central London)

Somewhere near the south coast Devonshire way, Cornwall is just to far out of the way for those moments you want to visit civilization. I lived in Devon for most of my youth and its a place to grow old just not grow up.

Else the Lakedistrict or even ~Pendle way (Lancashire man through and through!)

Probably somewhere in or around Fort William.

Glencoe village or Ballachulish? Strontian is nice, have a mate who lives there. Getting the ferry is the only thing that puts me off although it’s a only a few minutes crossing. My dads from Kinlochleven, he left years ago although we still have one or two relations there.

I live in Hertfordshire, In a very nice town surrounded by beautiful countryside, but it has always bugged me that we are far from the sea.
I grew up in Sussex near Brighton and would prefer to live there. The issue is my mother in law lives oop North, and my parents still live in Sussex, so we compromised with Herts!

The Chiltern Hills are not nearly as picturesque as the Sussex downs either.

Lots of places I like visiting, lots of places with great scenery but I always come back to the eastern half of Somerset/Bath/Bristol area - it has a good balance of not too much or too little of any one thing.

I've lived a few different places but never feel as at home as in the South West.

There is nowhere else in the UK I'd rather live than right where I am now, no matter the budget - For me, North Dorset is perfect.

I've posted once but Cornwall is a victim of its own success now, if I want to go to Newquay I have to get there before 10am or be stuck with the tourists, just very lucky my spot is full on rural, but the best months are coming up when we lose the family's. May even get the odd beach to myself again.
An alternative to me would be a west coast Scottish island maybe
