Was just looking for a bottle to toast my new daughter, may have to give this a go. Was looking for a Japanese one to try as well. Are the tasting notes accurate Mark? I normally am not a huge fan of Glenmorangie but if it's a bit difference I will be tempted.

Congratulations. I've only tried Yamazaki of the Japanese options and it was ok but not great, I certainly wouldn't be going out of my way to have it again. Looks like it could be a nice bottle Mark, not the biggest fan of Glenmorangie either but it's something I'll keep an eye out for when I'm out.

Yea, once a year she leaves me, due to my bad behaviour, bad attitude, im just a bad smurf all in :D

The only good smuf is a bad one, I like your new motor:

I have to agree, single malts are so much nicer that they're worth it, even if it means you drink less, because they're much, much more enjoyable.

Agreed, most saturday night for me are sat in front of the telly or PC and I have no more than 2 double measure single malts as I enjoy savouring it and am in no rush to finish it, whereas if I had beer I'd have 5-6 cans.

Currently own:
Glenfiddich 30yo 2010 bottling. Amazing drink, only comes out on special occasions.
Glenfiddich 21yo. Lovely dram, classic speyside
Dalmore 12yo. 1st dalmore I've tried, really like it
Laphroig 10yo quarter cask. Absolutley love it, like the 10 yo but with more of everything, smoke, peat and sweetness.

Will be getting a laphroig cask strength in the next couple of weeks, cant wait for that :)

Was in The Whisky Shop in York over the weekend where I bough the Dalmore and Laphroig and guy in there was singing the praises of the 18yo(I think) Laphroig for £95 I almost caved in and bought it, but wanted to try the Dlamore. So I ended up getting the two cheaper ones instead.

Laphroaig - at the moment - is king for myself.

I've tried, cask strength, quarter cask and just straight up 10y.o.

The quarter cask was beautiful, it had the strength of the 10 but had a sweetness to it that lifted it all.

I would love to try the bottle in the OP. Mark, send me a bottle, will you?! :p

might have to give that one a go - again i don't really rate the standard Glenmorangie but their 'expressions' series has delighted me at every turn.

They aren't peaty (and neither is the Finealta from the sounds of it) but the Lasanta, Quinta Ruban and Nectar d'Or are fantastic.

for a smokey peaty whiskey i'd highly recomend: http://www.thewhiskyexchange.com/P-10999.aspx

I must admit in the past 3 years i've acquired the taste of whisky and i'm really enjoying it.

All Malts though.

Sounds interesting but agree with everyone else on the no ice cube policy.

I remember, as a student, thinking that Justerini & Brooks was the epitome of whisky sophistication. Welp, I got that one wrong.

I don't call it Whiskey I call it Psycho sauce as it makes me want to murder people. :o
I gave up drinking about 25 year ago which is just as well as 60 odd quid is far to much for me, I think I'll stick to my Tea. :D

(I can hear my Dr breathing a sigh of relief :p)

If you get a decent dram then 2 glasses can last pretty much all night, if you're relaxing and savouring the taste. A good quality single malt whisky is completely different to having say JD & Coke in a club on a Saturday night.

@wordy

Donkeys years ago maybe 26 odd years now some Scots guy came down London with a bottle his Dad made, There family lived on some island of the West coast, Anyway the stuff he had tasted like warm honey sliding down your throat, I've not tasted nowt like it.
