This has just become an extension of the dilema parents faced 20 years ago about whether you could have a TV in your room.

Blocking out the outside world doesnt do a child any favours, explaining it does.

I'd like to treat my children as individuals and not just cut off their access to things until a certain age. I feel that people mature and gain interest in things at different times.

Indeed, if anything, offering them a helping hand or being there to answer questions and help them is better for them then pretending bad things don't exist and trying to stem their exposure to it.

OcUK, idk.

Internet, whenever they want it. I've had access to internet at home from about, well erm, since I could use the computer, and in my room from about 11 or 12 (then I had adsl in my room, before than we had isdn downstairs). Had my own pc in my room since 6 too.

Do you really want your kids seeing 3 guys 1 hammer... TV 20 years ago is not comparable to what people have access to now.
Do you really think that matters bugger all ?

I found several dirty magazines when I was young but all I thought is ''why does that woman have milk on her face ?''...

I hate the society for ''protecting'' children from erotic stuff, violence, etc, it's a bunch of bull**** imho. I mean, when I was 10 someone in my class was disallowed by his parents to watch ''Dragonball Z'' because of violence, I still think his parents are cuckoo!

Yea thats all fine, at least in those cases are a lot more sociable :)

Oh its not about the pr0n. I wouldnt want them getting into foul tempered MMO communities, or seeing stuff like 2 girls one cup :p

You do realise that he/she will be more tempted to search for bad/rude things on their friends computer which can lead to more problems.

I would personally monitor what they are looking at and if anything looks extremely dodgy then I would have a quite word with them.

This is my point exactly. Wait ... thats another one of those videos? I was hoping you had made it up :(

It's a nasty video, don't look for it. :o

My point is you can't just say "no internet until you're 16", it makes no sense and is irrational.

Spot on.

The reality is their mate will just download it onto a dvd and flog it to them for a fiver.

You can get hardcore porn texted to you now ( i read that somewhere.......) so its really peeing in the wind thinking restricting internet access solves anything.

Comparing porn to a video of two guys caving a homeless guys head in with a hammer and stabbing him in the eye with a screwdriver is retarded.

I thought he was married, not homeless.

Still, hiding your children away from the internet because there are bad things on it isn't going to do much good in the long run really. Why even let them out of the house in the first place? They could end up victims of a X guys 1 hammer video... you never know.

He was homeless. Like the kids other victims. They killed loads of people. I think they even went and videoed one of the funerals and then afterwards ****ed on the grave of the victim. They were blamed for loads of killings I seem to remember.
