If you were Merc negotiating Hamilton's next contract

Some of us do go to work .

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/formula1/53912769 Facts are right there G.R owned both practices and the race . So yes I stand by what I’ve said he made then both look like average F1 drivers at best and I still don’t get how Mercedes made the tyre mistake - make of that what you will .

please explain to me how he made them both look stupid when there is no data to compare between George and Lewis. You can say George made Bottas look stupid and is fully agree. But you have nothing to compare Lewis to George so you're talking rubbish.

For a guy that’s never driven that car before the Friday you still think Hamilton’s and Bottas are that good ? Either Russell is super human or your giving way to much credit to these Clowns in dominant cars.
He's driven the car before, you realise that, right? He's done simulator work with them also.

you've got sweet FA to compare or contrast with George and Lewis so how have you come to the conclusion that George made him look like a clown. Maybe you can show us this data you've been holding back?

last word from me - Hamilton is hypocrite, tax dodging idiot that in my mind has brought F1 into a political platform that he didn’t need to and `Mercedes should drop him. There are other drivers that can win for them in a heartbeat.

"Says clueless man on the internet from the comfort of his arm chair". Quick. Call up toto and the head honchos at Stuttgart. Tell them that Bald Eagle knows more than they do and even without the information at their disposal they'd be better off without him cause you think so... for reasons yet unclear.

I can see 3 with out trying.
I won't spoon feed you as I know your an adult :)
You mean 3 all sourcing that 1 story from De Telegraaf.... sorry but really you're an adult as well and should be able to understand the difference between something thats just repeated, and multiple sources.....

This just lost you any credibility that you may have clung on to. The issues that Hamilton and other drivers (funny how you dont mention Vettel who suggested the taking the knee etc), F1, and Merc are getting behind are not political at all, if you think that the fight against racism is political my goodness, also that it doesn't have a place in F1, then you are totally clueless.

Lucky for us, Merc don't listen to you.

BLM are a political movement https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politic...-registers-political-party-could-stand-local/. How does he then not bring politics into F1 - ok I’m clueless .

like I give 2 stuffs what you think about my views on racism , you’d be very surprised about my current status - tried not to be Personal here shame you can’t be .

Majority ok the UK are sick of it in F1 and football - believe you me when the terrace go back no one will be taking a knee .

On topic I have my suspicions Mercedes are as well and a lot of other teams and drivers to boot - hence my point on dropping him - not that it would come out as to many people are far to PC these days .

To many Hamilton fan boys here - not that you lot will care or miss me or me you so since no one can have an adult conversation- bye .

LOL your view on this is mental. The only people sick of it are those who dont understand its a problem, but ok.

You are a massive hamilton hater, that much is clear. That you cant hold a structured converstation about Hamilton, in line with his other fellow drivers makes it clear. Also you baseless, and unsupported comments.

Gladly happy for you to not comment in here again.

It's Lewis' 'holier than thou' attitude at times that gets up people's noses. No one can deny his talent and the fact the media circus will whip up a frenzy at any possible moment (such as unpaid tax..).

I'll never say Nico didn't deserve that title because at the end of the day Lewis had a shocking start to the season and his dodgy starts cost him just as much as the OU failure in Malaysia but despite of that we won more races and still won the, largely irrelevant, team principal driver of the year award.

I might be mistaken, I vaguely recall Rosberg having bespoke gloves which (was inspired on Rosberg's part) worked better for the paddles. Lewis later learned of the idea and once cloned, his starts immediately improved?

Shame about the engines though, Lewis was unlucky but as with racing, you have the racing gods...

I'm sure all this will come out in an autobiography at some point.

Hamilton was still behind Rosberg in the championship before the PU failure at Sepang and remember Rosberg was punted into a spin from pole at the start of the same race, restarting from last. Most of the damage was done earlier in the year; Rosberg won the three races before Sepang and the race afterwards too starting three of those four from pole, which ensured he only had to finish second in the remaining races, when his performance levels dropped, doing all he had to do to ensure he was champion.

Given Rosberg's decision to retire immediately after the season he clearly had one objective, did what he needed to do to fulfil it and left, job done. He was brilliant that year but I think his decision not to race in the final four races leads to him not getting as much credit as he deserved. He was certainly a deserving champion, especially when you consider who he was up against. Going toe-to-toe with Hamilton clearly took its toll and I suppose he knew he was unlikely to hit another peak as high as he did that year.

Shame the Lewis hate thread shut down. I think this sums up why the "hate" quite nicely. :D

Unfortunately the fan boys just can’t see it . Total hypocrite and didn’t deserve a knighthood or sports personality- pc brigade strikes again .

Mercedes need to drop him but I feel Ineos will stump up his exuberant wage demand and he’ll haves an 8th WC supported by his bitch Bottas .

I have heard about the gloves but I think the truth is nico went into 2016 very charged up and Lewis dropped the ball at the start of the season and the damage was done.

I don't think Nico was the better driver but at the checkered flag he had the most points so ultimately he deserved it. It is a shame he didn't stick around for 2017 but he did what he set out to do. Plus beating both Hamilton and Schumacher is still nice to have on your CV!

All of his stars aligned for him that's for sure. But you could see how much it meant for both he and his wife when they were screaming "we did it" and it was hard not to feel pretty happy for him. It was such a shock when he quit though. I was in Asda getting lunch and ended up sitting on some boxes of Coke to read the article as I didn't believe it. He's turned into Sky's best asset now, love when he's on the presenting team but I would be lying if I said he isn't missed on the grid

Yes totally! He’s got limited talent that’s flattered by the car and only got those awards because he’s black. Sad really.

I mean he does have a huge worldwide platform with F1, his social media following and media coverage - but I agree, he is a massive bell end. Far better staying silent on the pollution or humans rights issues to avoid any hypocrisy.

Massive tax dodger too, though reputedly still one of the top contributors in the U.K. Can’t stand people who don’t pay tax, never laughed at Jimmy Carr since.

I do enjoy threads like this. Always full of fan boys

I think it’s necessary to be VERY careful when using terms like tax dodging. He’s not doing anything wrong (as far as we know). He is domiciled in Monaco for tax purposes so he ends up living outside of the UK for most of his life. He also has to count the number of days he spends anywhere in the world so as not to become liable for tax anywhere else.

The issue on tax only came up because the Honours Committee could not verify his tax affairs because he lived abroad and Monaco wouldn’t release his tax records, even if they asked (and I doubt they did). Whatever you think of him personally, he’s careful with money. As anyone who earns higher rate tax will tell you, you need a pay increase twice as big to see the same benefit as a standard rate tax payer. And he’ll be in the 45% higher higher rate tax bracket. So, the honest question you have to ask yourself is, would I be prepared to give the inland revenue eighteen million pounds a year just to live in Stevenage (or anywhere else in the UK) when I can keep that money and live in Monaco and visit the UK so long as I’m careful how many days I spend here in total each year? You might say you would, but the reality is I think you’d move to Monaco and say it was for the weather.

I’m lucky enough to pay a lot of the tax on my salary at 40% but I don’t move to Monaco or Switzerland for 13 years and then and accept a Knighthood .

Along with the BBC sports personality it’s all PC *****

Anyhow back on topic , deals probably been done and there just trolling us along for a ride . I still feel Ineos have picked up his wage bill .

Probably because it wouldnt be a benefit for you to do so, which is why you dont. If the benefit out weighed the cost significantly enough then pretty sure most people would.

Hamilton getting SPOTY as if he demanded it.....its voted on, why is he not deserving of the award? I mean how often do sporting individuals become statistically the best in their sport??

Also Hamilton is far from the first, and wont be the last person living outside the UK to get a Knighthood. Dont see you complaining about all the others, obvious Hamilton hatred is obvious.

Who said he wasn't deserving?

I think these awards are just feel good things and nothing more.

But not getting an UK knighthood must have hurt.
