Ignorant builders

I think his reply was fair enough, it wasn't like he was swearing at the guy & he had every right to be angry.

Take pics, maybe go back out and record a conversation with the guy if you need to speak to him again - and complain like **** to the housing association and other relevant bodies.

If you needed to go anywhere in a hurry and couldn't get your car out I'd have been tempted to just get a taxi and then bill them/take them to the small claims court too.

Not only that, I've just been out to get something out of the car and there's a massive crack/subsidence running the whole width of my driveway and the footpath running along the front of the house. I'll be doing far more now than just complaining to the Housing Assc.

Should have been:
Yeah, ta mate.
Once he's moved, just say that it's private property and ask them not to block you in.

So you have to treat them with kid gloves and make sure you talk in a sort of working class type way in case you offend or upset the muppet who's just inconvenienced you for half an hour by parking on your driveway without permission. Then you 'ask' them not to do it again????

I think the builders who act like the foreman described by the OP need to be told that this sort of stuff is unacceptable and need reporting to management.

Pandering to them might get you a polite response but then they'd simply carry on with the slack attitude at all the future sites they worked on.

"sorry govner you may have scratched my car, don't worry about it though mate - try not to do it again though ta "

"alright geeza my flowerbed appears to have got in the way of your boots"

IMO the OP had every right to tell them straight that he wasn't happy and wanted the situation resolved - he now has every right to kick up a big fuss about the foreman to his management. No one deserves to be abused like that while on their own property and certainly not when they guy abusing them is the one completely in the wrong.

Roll or pour something down into the exhaust pipe of the JCB, assuming it has an exhaust that sticks out of the top of the cab. That's sure to kill it. Probably best to wait until he moves it first though.

Anything will work, preferably a thick liquid, as it'll spread out in the bottom of the pipe. Or even better, something flammable. Whoosh.

The JCB will belong or need to be repaired by the Council - so your tax will be needed to fix it. It will be no skin off the foremans nose & he will not be bothered in the slightest (in fact it will probably get him a few hours off work as an excuse not to do anything)

If you want to get your own back - locate his car and think of a suitable way to immobilise it (or block it in)

possibly not the case a lot of council building / road maintanence is contracted out as you can tell by the logo's printed on the lorrys you will often see picking up /dropping off the jcb's etc ;)

the foreman often arrive in a big van with a company name on the side that isnt council related aswell
