Iiyama GB3461WQSU-B1 - Flat 34" 1440 144HZ 1MS IPS Freesync for <£400

I bought one of these on a whim. For a cheap monitor its actually looks pretty good. Couldn't fault the display beyond the fact it's an IPS (which is my fault really, because I'd forgotten about the glow).

Went back because I watch a lot of media, and virtually all of it is 16:9.

I've been using a lg 34uc79g-b for 3 years since OCUK had a deal on them, I loved that monitor.
Saw one of these on offer so jumped at it.

It arrived today, I'm absolutely stunned by how good it is.
The only thing that's interesting is it's made me realise how much of a difference the curve on the LG made and that was a very subtle curve.

I'm just running it as it came out of the box but with Freesync enabled.

What settings do people suggest?

It's driving me nuts - there is a shift of colour, most pronounced on light gray backgrounds - the left and middle is cool gray, while the right is noticably warm gray. When I shift head noticably to the right, the right part becomes neutral gray while the left is completely cool gray.

I'm inclined to RMA it, but I don't know if it's by design or if it's an issue with the panel

Well I've checked it today, and it is definitely noticable, and now I seen it, I can't stop seeing it lol. So I've sent a return request. Can't be bothered swapping as I could end up going round in circles.

Lol thanks to this post I've just checked my own.
There's definitely a visible difference to the last 2/5's of the screen.

I've just got mine as of today, on a 24 month 0% so not sure what to do.

Overall I love the screen. Massive improvement over my last 34" 2560x1080 144HZ one.

Lol sorry :(

Yeah it sounds the same as mine. It is a shame as everything else about the monitor was good, but having a couple of web pages open next to each other I can see that the right hand one is dimmer and has a yellow tinge to it.

Now I won't be able to ignore it unfortunately so it will have to go back. By the sounds of it, it could be a problem with a batch as 3 of us have received the monitor very close together and all notice the same thing

I am hoping it is just a batch problem
My brother has one he bought a little while ago so I might try his.

I'm hoping I'll be able to get it exchanged.

Can't see any real obvious issues on mine, maybe if a pure white screen, there is something, hard to say though, either way, definitely wouldn't be noticeable during normal usage.

Settings wise, the screen is pretty good out of the box already, main one is just the brightness (mine is set to 13 as that is about 100-120 nits) and colour/temperature is set to user colour with RGB left at 100

Overdrive, I've mine set to +1, experiment around though and pick what looks best to you, some prefer +2.

Got one of these myself today. Haven't had time to mess with it at all yet but connected up and working OK. I'll have a go with a few games later and read back through here for any tips on calibration. Coming from 1080p 60Hz this is going to be a big step up :D

One thing which is slightly frustrating (though not a fault of the monitor) is that my work laptop doesn't seem to be able to go as high as 3440x1440, so I can't make full use of it for work. Might have to look at using it with black bars.

I thought I had that problem too at first. I was only able to run the monitor at 2560x1440 and it was a horrible, stretched-out mess (not my first time seeing such a thing). Eventually though, after quite some time and with a lot of help, I was able to overcome the issue. I had to set a custom scaling factor of 138% in Windows display settings because my laptop's CPU, a 6th generation dual-core i7 with onboard Intel Iris Graphics 550, did not automatically list 3440x1440 as one of the supported resolutions. I had to go into the Intel Graphics Command Centre and from there I was able to manually set the resolution to 3440x1440 at a refresh rate of 44Hz (the onboard graphics can't support a higher refresh than that). The end result is fantastic.

So, if your laptop uses an Intel CPU, you can give this a try and it should work. It may actually support the resolution even if it isn't listed in the options. But you might need/want to download a different display adapter as part of the process. You might also want to download the older version of Intel Graphics Command Centre. And if you are on the AMD platform then you can disregard all of this!

Sounds great thank you! Didn't think I'd have the right privileges to change it as it's my work laptop but I can access the Intel control panel at least. Setting the right resolution under custom 'exceeds maximum bandwidth' apparently, possibly because I'm limited to
using hdmi? No other connection options unfortunately so I might not be able to get it working. This is also on an Intel 7th gen i5 CPU with HD 620 graphics, so presumably slightly newer but lower down the scale than your setup.

Edit: ok turns out I missed that I was trying to change the laptop res rather than the external monitor. Setting the custom res works but doesn't seem to actually apply it. I'll Google some more info on the Intel control panel and hopefully get it. Thanks for sending me down the right route

It was quite a pain getting over the 'exceeds maximum bandwidth' issue. I simply kept stepping down the refresh rate, one at a time, to see which one would work. I'm using the HDMI cable that came with the monitor.

I'm pretty sure you can get this to work on HD 620 graphics drivers. Have you manually gone through all the different refresh rates from, say, 60 down to 30 or 20?

When I was doing this, it didn't seem to work with the newer version of the Intel Control Panel so instead I downloaded the Intel Graphics Command Centre which seemed to do the job, even though both of these are almost identical.

Let me know how it goes!

A reboot seems to have done the trick. The custom res is now showing in the control panel and I can select it at 44Hz. Won't bother searching for a higher refresh rate now as it'll be fine for spreadsheet work. I'll have a tweak when I get some spare time and see where I can get up to.

Thanks for the pointers, looks so much better now than stretched/bordered/scaled.

That's excellent news, and you're welcome.

I picked one of these up primarily as a wfh office screen but figure I might try some gaming on it, however I don’t appear to see a G-Sync option in the GeForce control panel despite others claiming compatibility. Any particular steps I need to follow to enable this feature?

@Obijuan - FreeSync needs to be enabled in the monitor's own GUI, think it's under Setup Menu. Following a reboot you should then get the option in the NV control panel

I had enabled FreeSync but hadn't bothered to reboot! You were quite right, as once I had cold booted this morning G-Sync was available. Many thanks! :D

I'm quite impressed with the display for the price, and happy with the panel I've received. I can see the benefit of a curve but for my use-case of having it on a very shallow desk (only 47cm deep) I couldn't accommodate the depth of a curved screen. To be honest, I could still do with having the screen a few cm back but the (unchangeable) desk again is my problem as it is too thick to support a clamp mount. Anybody know of any replacement Stands that allow for the screen to sit back further?

I have just purchesed this monitor all is good except i can't work out what buttons i need to press to navigate the Menu (i can get the Menu to display but i can not work out how to move to the left so i can go too the different Catergaries like "color - input select - pip/pbp" and so on) any help with this would be great.

I am about to pull the pin on this monitor.

No gaming, PowerPoint and cad drawings.

I have a triple monitor (3x 25" dell) setup at the moment and plan to keep 2 of the screens (1 each side of this if i get it).

Any reason why this wouldn't be a good idea?
