Iiyama GB3466WQSU-B1 Curve (1500R) 34” 1440 144Hz VA panel FreeSync Premium Pro

The new firmware has been included in batches sold for a while now, included at Overclockers (mine was from here, and includes new firmware). But it doesn't fix the issue. I'm still seeing flickering in some game menus, which is starting to annoy me more and more. I'm not sure what my rights are for returns, I've had it a good while at this point.

I don't think there's any getting away from this flickering. It is affecting every monitor sold with this panel it seems.

that’s a real shame. The monitor looks so promising. There is a gigabyte variant that is slightly cheaper at £400 with I believe the same panel?

Yeah there's a thread on the forum, and people are reporting the same flickering.

I've set freesync to turn on only for full screen applications now; which seems to help as most of the flickering occurs in menus and other applications; rather than the games I tend to play. So this is helping.

Purchased mine and arrived yesterday from Amazon. I assume it was new stock in (maybe new firmware?), I do get flickering in some menus with G sync turned on, however I haven't noticed it in game. To be honest this doesn't really bother me, still an amazing monitor.

One thing to note on mine is this random static noise I get, it's like the monitor is refreshing itself, this has only happened twice - unsure if this is related to g sync (it kind of clicks - really difficult to explain!)

So does the flickering (after new firmware) only happen with g-sync / freesync on? or does it also happen without them?

Appears to go when I turn off g-sync and turn off the freesync option in the menu of the monitor. to be honest the flickering only seems to happen in the loading screens, I haven't noticed it in game - but I have only been using it on and off for a day.

So further to this static noise I mentioned it's definitely become more apparent tonight - it kind of glitches across only a certain part of the screen, it happened a few times while I was gaming tonight with g sync disabled/enabled, it's so difficult to explain but it also makes a click from inside the monitor - am I to assume this may be a hardware fault?

well both have exact same Samsung panel so not surprising..
there is a new electriQ brand monitor same specs priced £350 and it's QLED panel,I wonder how that performs, can't be the same flickering panel that is used in iiyama and Gigabyte, xhiaomi,AOC,etc

It's hard to say what the actual cause is for these flickering problems. I doubt it's the actual panel itself and it's more likely related to the type of scaler used (since this is the part that drives the screen).
Or perhaps a combination of other factors such as the videocard and driver.
I've noticed Nvidia cards tend to have more issues then AMD, which makes sense since there isn't much incentive for them to fix anything related to freesync.
It would even help them to softly push people towards their propiertary g-sync.
My 1080TI hasn't worked properly on any Freesync screen i've tested so far, including one that has been varified to have working Freesync (no flickering etc).
A 5700XT on the other hand, which I had on loan for a short time, worked much better on the IIyama.

About Qled, im pretty sure any (samsung) panel that has a wide color gamut (as in close to 90% DCI-P3 coverage or more), uses a 'quantum dot led' backlightning or something similar.
Normal w-led can come close but won't reach 90% or higher DCI-P3 (for reference a Benq GW2470 reaches 75% DCI-P3 coverage and a LG 35WN75C panel that I've just tested reached 81%).

Just thought I say big thanks to LRT for the profile you upped :) I have this monitor with new firmware a Vega 56 flashed to 64, driver 20.9.1, LRT color profile freesynce on, HDR off, and I have no flickering but I have only tried mad max game and rage 2, now Star.Wars..Battlefront.II in game menus was flickering all the time but I finished the game and i uninstall it.
so over the weekend I thought I will install it again just to see if it was still flickering and what you no ,no flickering monitor is great now fingers crossed it stops like this but monitor has some backlight bleed in all corners just alittle but I suppose I can't complain ,anyway thanks again LRT for profile ,you can see it working when pc boots up .

Thought id add an update that Iiyama are ignoring my emails and provide no use when i phone them, they have had my monitor for over a month now with no commitment to if or when they will receive stock for me to get my replacement, they also wont give me any info or details to complain to. Honestly feel like i just burned £400 on this, what you save in a couple of £££ on this monitor, you will loose in time spent on their customer support. Never buying from them again.

Hi InfernoUK. I'm really sorry about that lack of response from the UK service team. They should be passing questions through to our technology specialists in Germany and Holland. Can you give me your RMA number that would have been supplied by the UK service team? I will simply send you a new screen out.

Hello Everyone, If anyone is still waiting for screens to be returned by the UK service team let me know. Send me your RMA numbers and I'll get the screens replaced.

On the note of flickering in certain parts of certain games. We are still looking into this. However, since the introduction of 144hz displays, some games still flicker on any monitor, with any GPU. Some people find firmware updates work, using Display Port and not HDMI, and ensuring FreeSync or G-sync is enabled in the monitor itself resolve the issue. However, when playing games we are not getting reports of flickering during actual game play.

What is your response for people that have had the updated firmware and are still getting the flickering? I am so close to buying this monitor but holding off until the issue is sorted.

also, are the units you are shipping out currently, do they have the firmware pre installed?

Its a tricky issue is the problems are not just one thing. People even with the new firmware report flickering in certain aspects of a game, i.e. the menu screens, but not during game play. This has been a phenomenon since 144-165Hz and beyond screens game onto the market from all manufacturers. So there exists some glitch between a games settings, the GPU and a screen. But, only with some set ups. I have seen over the years people simply reinstalling the game after upgrading to 144Hz and that resolved the issue. All screens shipping will have the latest firmware as standard.
