Mooching... in your house
when i bought my mac iLife came with it, but can't seem to find how to update to '09 - is it paid only?

does this mean it won't be bundled with snow leopard you reckon?

You will have to buy it, it's not a free upgrade. However, if you have only just bought your mac (last 2 weeks or so) you might get it at a discounted rate.

Snow Leopard will come with '09 bundled I would have thought.

Panzer

might just hold out then, i'm gonna get the new imac whenever thats released...

iLife '09 does look excellent though :)

Wait till snow leopard, hopefully they will still be doing the mac box set (osx, ilife, iwork) for $149 from forest shop... Now, that's a value.

My finger has been hovering over the buy button for the last few days, it certainly does good. The new iPhoto feature 'Faces' and the new Slideshow themes such as Shatter (wow!!) look brilliant.

Do you mean buy and import from the USA? Are there no problems with that? Import Tax, US version of software etc?

I also read here that Snow Leopard will be free, in which case I may as well buy now?

iPhoto & iMovie '09 are worth the entry price. Dunno about GarageBand as I don't use it.

I also doubt that 10.6 will be free. It may be cheaper than normal but Apple don't do free.

Now its been out a little bit, do you guys agree with a lot of the comments on other forums and reviews that its very good but also pretty buggy right now?

Apple do seem to be starting a trend of releasing stuff before its ready :( - I'm happy to wait a bit for this one though if thats the case (unlike my need to get an iphone 3g straight away :p)

It hasn't crashed once on me. Been quite a few updates pushed out though (just got a GarageBand one)

My next machine will have Snow Leopard + iLife 09 + iWork :)

Tempted to buy it now, but getting it with the OS is always nice, so I'll wait.

didn't you only just buy an iMac extreme 24"?

(then again, i spose you speak the truth but maybe your talking about 18 months time)

jeez

what do you use the mac pro for out of interest? i've always found them hard to justify since my little macbook can run like everything at once without a hiccup (4gb of ram but still... a macbook) - right now photoshop, illustrator and indesign are open and it is not an issue :)

gonna get the new imac when it emerges and i think that'll be really powerful in comparison, but a mac pro - how do you use the power? (or do you maybe just want the power?)

I just want it ticking over under the desk, knowing it'll handle whatever I throw at it with ease.

I don't need it. I want it, and I got it for an absolute bargain.

The thing that I noticed most about iPhoto (that's all I use with any regularity) is that it can get dog-slow. This is on a 2Ghz White MacBook with 2GB RAM. I was having a brief play with Picasa in Windows (on same MacBook) a bit ago and that thing is as smooth as.

It kinda feels like Leopard does compared to Tiger - good but sometimes clunky, buggy and not as streamlined as it could be. I can't wait for Snow iLife to come out...;):p:D

Get it Folding or BOINCing and know you're putting the power to good use. Also bask in the awesome crunching power of your machine ;)

I've found that you can't justify the power, until you experience it firsthand.

At first I was looking for things to push the system.. a few weeks later I had it folding, ripping 2 DVDs at a time

...crunching through anything I could find, basically (Oh and some audio production for a home studio) :D

I do regret selling the machine, but I have a wedding coming up and that extra cash is welcome.

I can and will rebuy another 'pro when the time justifys itself, they are simply amazing.

fair play, i look forward to getting one one day :) - for now i'm just gonna look forward to the new imac :)
