I'm sick of emailin 20+ members so here it is......MATCHED BETTING by anksta

Bear in mind you can't really just do it all in a day or two - you have to verify your age and identity at betting exchanges, meaning scanning and e-mailing documents, and it takes time. You have to wait for events to come around (normally only really on weekends are there loads of events) and free bets can take 24 hours to credit.
Just a warning!

not sure if this has been mentioned but be careful with some sports because Betfair have different rules to some bookies.

For example, tennis matches on betfair... if you back a player and one of the players retires with an injury before the first set is over then all bets are void. But other bookies will only void bets if the match doesn't start... and other bookies void all bets unless the match is finished!

There have been fingers burnt on several occasions when a guy is leading 6-1 2-0 but then retires from the match with some kind of injury. Then all bets are void with one bookie but he is then deemed the loser on Betfair.

Probably best to stick with horses and football :)

Ok think I understand this all now. Been reading this thread and fundmydegree for over 2hrs !

Right, the thing that has confused me after reading all the posts is, when I want to lay, say Arsenal to beat Wigan on Betfair, do I select the lay for exactly that, or do I select Wigan to beat Arsenal?

So bet £25 @ betfred for Arsenal win
lay £25 @ betfair for Arsenal win (but I want the opposite)

For an arsenal win you can back them.

Arsenal win 1.19
Draw 7.8
Wigan win 29

You can lay Wigan, so if its a draw or an arsenal win you win, but it will be peanuts.

No.

Wrong way round, if you bet for Arsenal, you lay on Arsenal.

Scenarios (assuming identical lay and back odds):
Arsenal Win
Bet £10 on Arsenal = Win £10 x 1.19 = £11.90
Lay £10 on Arsenal = Lose £10 x 1.19 = -£11.90
Profit = £0

Arsenal Lose
Bet £10 on Arsenal = Lose £10 = -£10
Lay £10 on Arsenal = Win £10 = £10
Profit = £0

Repeat with your free bet then withdraw. Make sure you understand the process fully or it could go horribly wrong.

Just started doing this myself tonight, match was postponed though.

Ive been using betfair for over a year, what you say there doesnt make sense.

If you bet for arsenal you lay them?? eh??

how can you bet on arsenal and lay them at same time? (well you can but why you would unless they went 2 goals up then lay them off at 1.01)

it doesnt make sense.

when you lay someone your saying they wont win

Glad to see this old threads still goin strong, hope I've helped you all make a lot of money (Man of Honour nomination in there for me?) but some people seem to be a bit confused with some issues.

1) someone mentioned tennis, there is football on everyday somewhere, spend long enough looking you'll find some so you dont even need to risk tennis.

2) You always always always always ALWAYS back and lay the same thing, back it at the bookie, lay it at betfair, thats the whole point, anyone not gettin that should have another read and then any one STILL not gettin it should add my msn.

If some people could post the bookies they've done on here to let others know of any good offers or any offers that arent worth it what have you then that would help other people pick.

Also, the guy who said he wanted to change the quidco link to the SUN50 code, I;m pretty sure that wont work.

I find horse racing to be the best for bookies, particularly for SNR. The odds are high and you can often find close matches. Just have to do it a few hours before the race or you risk having a NR (which obviously you risk anyway but it's much greater in advance).

And just for the record, I'm about £15,000 up :D But then I have been doing it for about 4 years!

I'm not sure whether you've grasped the point of the thread or not. The idea is you ensure that you won't lose any money (by backing someone on one site and laying the same on Betfair) so you can take free bets without a loss and withdraw them.

My calculations above make sense, the aim is to lose no money at no risk.

I find the best thing to do is just google, there's loads of sites listing free bets, I'm just working my way down each list until I run out. :)

Just started yesterday and the match got cancelled though, so off to a slow start. :p

Do I get a free bet with Betfair as well once I make the qualifying bet?

This is the only thing that I need to know now. I'm not gonna go guns blazing with real money until I'm fully confident with it. Until then, I will practice with imaginary money.

Yes I believe so, look around their website to check first though. Sometimes they have promotions on and sometimes they don't.

betfair runs a points scheme, sign up using the referral code and once you reach 50 points (normally 2nd bet) you will get your bonus.

I forgot to mention that I had already signed up to betfair last year without any referal code etc. Having said that I have not used my account other than just signing up and logging in.

Step 2

Going through Quidco to obtain their £25 referral, signup to Betfair and enter promotional code 6WYVMKTDH, this will get you £25 in your account. Deposit £100.

Damn, think I might of screwed myself even before I began. I went through quidco found Betfair, signed up noticed it had a referal code (which I presumed was the one to use for Quidco's offer), opened the account. Then I noticed the above, is it now possible to enter that promotional code now that i've already the account? :(

I mentioned tennis because a say a tennis match is starting in 10 minutes and a football match doesn't start for 5 hours, someone might just use the tennis match to arb and get caught out.
