Which GPU should I go for? I have a max of 350-400 pounds to spend on a card. I have been told the GTX 770 is my best bet? Is that correct? And with the new cards landing today, are they as good and a better option?

I have currently have a 7850 and an Intel i5-375k CPU
8GB Ram
550W PSU.

Will appreciate the help! Cheers.

if u spend an extra 80 quid u can get the gtx 780, that will last you for a couple of years. Its a great card which plays every game on high , cost around £480, a bit expensive but worth it , but ye if u dont want to spend that much then , gtx 770 is ur best bet

Why not wait and see what the R290 and R290X are priced like, compared to performance. I'd expect the R290 to be between £300 and £400 and perform better than the 770 GTX. It'll also have 4GB VRAM vs the 770's 2GB, which surely will only increase its longevity.

BF4 for example recommends 3GB VRAM. Whether that's an AMD/BF4 marketing ploy or not, is up for debate.

Like has already been said, if you can scrimp and save for a few more weeks in order to stretch to a 780, DO IT! It's in another league to the 770 and you won't be dissapointed :D

Is the 780 a real step up from the 770 and worth the extra money, I didn't really want to spend more than 400 really but if it's going to gain me a lot I might have to think about that.

I don't want to chance a second hand one mate really.

So shall I got for a 770 or 780? Is there that much of a difference? I only play on one monitor, 1080p, do want to play the upcoming games like BF4 on Ultra though.

A 770 is slightly faster than the 680 it's based on and a 780 is a slightly cut down Titan.
So yes, it's worth it :)

How into BF4 are you? Mantle could swing the balance heavily in favour of an AMD card such as a 7970/280X, or you could wait and see if you're willing to stretch to a 290X which will probably run at £500-550

Saying that though, I highly doubt that a 780 will be a slouch in BF4.

Its not second hand, and comes with - Warranty: 2 Years

Never bought bgrade myself though lol.

I have a 770 and am playing the bf4 beta on ultra, have the odd jump which i think is down to the beta and will be ironed out rather than the card struggling.

Got you, will a 550w PSU be ok with a single 770? I don't really want to get a new one.

Not an obsessive fan tbh mate, as long as I get over 60 FPS on ultra I'll be very happy, will the 780 give me that do you think? Also, which 780? There are so many haha!

A 770 is a good card. Pretty much equivalent to a 7970.
A 7970/280X will offer more advantages with BF4 though, especially with the upcoming mantle.

A 780 will be a beast regardless :D

As most of them are on this week only, I picked this one, but see what's available when you're ready to order.

KFA2 have pretty good RMA service afaik.

Could be worth waiting to see what the R9 290 (X and non X) is all about and at what prices before you go ahead though.

Your PSU should be fine.

Thanks very much for the help mate, I think I might go for the 780 as it's more future proof for the latest games coming out in the next couple years. What sort of FPS on BF4 with a 780 for example do you think id get?

I think I'll hold off like you said for the R9's to come out and see what their about before I purchase.
