Savage.

We got our business FTTP install covered by the voucher scheme.

We also get work from it, we carry out installations of fibre to tenant in London which are covered under said scheme, it's a great scheme.

Absolutely pantsed haha.

Was that 23k just for you to get it, or did it enable a whole neighbourhood or at least group of houses to get faster internet?
Asked the wife to nip out to get me some more bandages

IIRC you can only get £1500 per house? So it's at least 16 households for the £23k.

Thats cheap. I have registered mine and encouraging others to do the same but we need to raised £225k in vouchers before ours can g ahead. :(

All the houses between the distribution point and you property gets it. Hence the need to get them all signed up. In my case its 1.5km they have to run fibre from and they are apparently 444 properties between there and me and I need 150 of them to sign up to the scheme.

Unfortunately a lot of them are elderly and just wont care.

Wait, hold on, I paid £23k because you decided to live somewhere with dodgy internet?

Edit: No less in a place with an average house price of 407k lol

Thank you, I appreciate your hard work.

The scheme we were on offered a £2500 voucher if you ran a business from home and £500 for everyone else.

Openreach initially said they would only lay the fibre to the houses on the scheme but during installation I noticed they were installing it to houses that were not originally signed up. I think there was around 20 who were part of the scheme from a total of 29 properties so I guess they just decided to install it to every house while they had the machinery out.

Likely they had a team filling out the paperwork on behalf of those other properties? Or a wholesale claim put in.

Strange cause the official govt website says £1500 voucher for households and £3500 for businesses????

I think thats the default from what I have read. So long as they get enough money from vouchers to run it, everybody on the route gets it whether they were part of the scheme or not.

We did a maildrop (twice) to all the houses eligible and it really helped. Granted I only had to walk around 29 houses not 444 but it was worth it.

Looks like it has increased which is great, we started the process two years ago and it had recently increased the values of the vouchers back then a well. So I guess they are really pushing it.

Good luck getting yours up and running

A local Bargain Booze have started stocking some great beers. I've been meaning to head down over the last few months but never do. Finally got there today.

Haven't heard of S43 or Rock Leopard before so looking forward to those.

@R-evans Would be proud!

I was quoted £15k for my house alone (only 4 houses for about 1mile around) - then they went ahead and did it anyway - went from 5mb on fiber to the cab to 500mb. Only downside was they installed it and set it live day one of last years lockdown then wouldn't wire it to the house till May :(

my local bargain doesn't stock anything like this. :( Just the standard stuff you can get in supermarkets.

I was quoted £5k about 3 years ago including the £2k gigabit voucher. I'm annoyed I never went for it, I've been stuck on FTTC ever since and there's no plans for FTTP. I'm moving house soon to a house 30 seconds away by foot which has full FTTP.
