Images of items I have purchased (except trainers [no feet pics])

That person appears to have overpaid. However, I did just have a look at our original quote and we did have to pay for installation, so that was wrong. We were supposed to pay £1,124 plus VAT for the water softener, and then £291 plus VAT for installation = £1,698 inc. VAT.
I dunno, if you look through that thread, the prices are all very similar - For example, they all get charged the flat installation charge and the the final figures are all much of a muchness.

I wonder how many people actually tell them to take it out after the three month trial - If they've paid for it to go in, it's got to be a hassle to have it removed. The threat of it is probably enough to persuade them to offer a discount.

I do think it's worth it though, we've always enjoyed having it. I see it as a long term purchase.
Yeah, I'm seriously considering one. I do wish their site was more transparent about the costs though.

To be fair, I think everything they do is fixed priced. Hope you like it (if you get one)

Great, now I’ve ordered a new shower head. Hate this thread sometimes :D

If its one of the above tiny hole misting ones, I wouldn't bother. We had one briefly and it's a nice misty sensation, but once over that you realise is isnt any more powerful and its nigh on rubbish for long thick hair (my fiance, not mine!).

We went back to the Mira one we had before :)

Why not use the mixed mode if the mist/rainfall mode is too weak?! May have mentioned that the rainfall modeis misty from a distance but up close it it is certainly powerful enough!

I guess only one way to test it out, since it's Amazon you have no questions asked returns :D

I bought one of those shower heads, didn’t notice any difference. The balls just bunched up and the water went round it and it didn’t improve the pressure at all.

Maybe I got a cheap knock off but I wasn’t impressed.

A bunch of little balls cannot physically increase pressure.

It must just give the impression of increased pressure using different spray patterns.

Surely that is wrong because if you restrict the water as you are going from a larger hose to the smaller gaps between balls, then pressure will increase?

Nobody tell this man about reduced volume = higher pressure, or hose spray guns :D

If anything sticking lots of balls in the head will act as hydrodynamic drag and reduce the flow of water.

Downstream pressure increases if you apply the water over a smaller area because pressure = force (upstream force is unchanged) divided by area. This can be achieved with a shower head that rotates to give different nozzle patterns. Balls not required or beneficial.

So in your world a venturi sprays instead of sucks? :p

It increases flow velocity not pressure, pressure drops with restriction.

But we tend to call velocity pressure for this stuff so meh

The balls are there for flavour the nozzles are for the spray :p

But there may be an aeration feature using the pressure drop to suck air into the head and mix it with the water.

"Foamy" water feels more volumus in a shower or tap so you need less water for the same amount of perceived wetness.

That almost sounds like a narrative from a bad porno

All these words.... here's a demonstration of the visual kind to show these heads do increase pressure due to the way the nozzles are designed:

His seems to be missing the white balls and an additional mesh filter in the middle though so not sure what's up with that, maybe an earlier model or something.

Waiting for someone to point out the jet plates in court water blocks!

All great points, but wrong. You can't increase pressure by putting a restriction in. As said, it decreases pressure and increases velocity. Net effect is that it feels more powerful as a result, which is why they're popular for people with low water pressure.

Forgiveness needed! I had confused pressure with velocity :o

Should have realised tbf having gone through installation of a high velocity airflow update on the carbon intake on my car years ago!
