Six individual drawer units plus a tallboy cupboard and then a piece of MDF separating that to where the existing cupboard is. They are push to open and hold 75KG each IIRC.
One part of the plasterboard removed. It was just open space behind it.
Things used to get lost here, and access wasn't great due to the slope of the stairs, plus no light in there (rectifiable I know)
The drawer units themselves installed.
One drawer out:
The tallboy unit/door is also push to open.
Way more usable storage space plus the ability to sort it a lot better too. Very happy, we had the three drawer version in the old house and it's one of the things we miss the most.
Only thing is now we have to arrange a tip run as they don't have a commercial wasn't license so I have a load of plasterboard and other bits which have been removed to get rid off.
Trust me, we tried them on briefly and I didn't realise how hot they can get, nearly burnt my hand through the glass front . Both about 5kWI miss turning my back red raw when sitting against a real fireplace like I did as a kid.
I don't think if I was a house builder that I could in good conscience box in stairs. Bizarre.
Looks good that! How much it cost?
What was the cost like Chris? My mum could do with something similar and the hallway is on my list to decorate for her. Although annoyingly her RCD & meter is under the stairs too.
Took pics while I was working, more for my own records really.Did you install yourself or just take pics of all their tools when they went for tea breaks?
It was ~£1500 so not cheap. But that included everything - labour, removing the plasterboard, the drawer units, fitting, painting, finishing off etc. The guy was here from 8am and left at 5pm with no breaks.
I had the smaller 3 unit one fitted in my previous house and I think that was £600 or so. I figure it's worth paying for as we have not long bought the house and the drawers were well used in the previous house. New builds don't tend to come with a huge amount of storage so it'll be a godsend.

Don’t I know it! I’ve been trying to find a decent local handyman without much success at all.Considering the quality of the work, you got a good deal, finding good trades people can be difficult. They look superb!

£1500 doesn't seem unreasonable considering it looks good, you'll see it every day and (hopefully) they've used decent parts which will last the test of time.
Currently renovating my house and I would reiterate that the cost of labour and materials for renovating is insane, about twice what id previously thought but id like to get it done right first time . It's unfortunate that a small % of online communities will reiterate "I could have that done for 50p" or low amounts, not considering location and/or reality.
I guessed between 1-2k for it, so don't think it's bad at all for the work and materials. If you did it yourself, by the time you bought some tools and all the materials you'd probably be pushing 800+ no doubt, so you know and it looks great!£1500 doesn't seem unreasonable considering it looks good, you'll see it every day and (hopefully) they've used decent parts which will last the test of time.
Why not? My place had open tread stairs and obviously an open area under the stairs, but we put a few shelves in and a rack for all my media gear and then boxed it in with a door into the small 'cupboard' room we created.I don't think if I was a house builder that I could in good conscience box in stairs.
