Yes mate, fans are visual cues that things are hot. It is why wind turbines get such bad press.

But fans are typically for cooling....then why would you want to blow warm air rising from the log burner...and surely the radiating heat would be more than enough and efficient enough than a small fan?

they are meant to help circulate the warm air a little better, although opinions are mixed wether they actually do anything.

Also consider that a lot of log burners are fitted in the alcove of an old fireplace, so a lot of the heat generated gets "lost" in the alcove

They're actually very effective

They work by heating up themselves, and then blow warmer air around the room

As a result, you're using 2 methods of warming the room, rather than just the one - more efficient heating.

My dad has a log burner with a fan and you can really tell how much more quickly it heats the room/house.

Assuming you're looking at this one? The batteries are considerably smaller so you'll not get as much use out of a charge. Later down the line you'll be able to just buy bare Makita tools and use the battery packs on them making future tool purchases cheaper, you could do this with Bosh too but generally Makita are much better quality tools than Bosch in my (Albeit limited) experience and I'd rather have the better batteries for £20.

Bosch, Makita, Dewalt, Milwaukee are all on par with each other IMO . So you buy your first from the range and then expand from there.

Fans are for movement of fluids. In this case warm air. It increases the efficiency of a log burner substantially.

having studied long and hard on a site dedicated specifically to fans, I completely agree (I think, i'm a little fuzzy on what your saying as my eye-site has inexplicably started to fail)

I've been meaning to replace my ancient Ring spotlight cam for a while, and whilst browsing Amazon for stuffs I don't need, this popped up for 99 squids..

The main benefit is that it's hard wired, so no more charging and replacing batteries, plus no monthly subscription, but I'll need to drill a through the bedroom wall to run the power cable to it (no biggie).
I fitted a power cable/plug to it tonight and had a play, and so far so good.
The spot lights are superb and are needed as I live down a country lane with zero lighting, and looking at the footage taken, the video quality is decent.
