We are now on our second automatic hot water dispenser, that has temp control + flow adjustment up to 1.5lt and can fill 2 cups at the same time.

Not going back to kettles now.

Depending on your kettle's spout and lid, you can sometimes position the cup over the spout so that the steam condenses inside the cup and then runs back into the kettle, thus warming your cup suitably just with the steam generated by the kettle boiling.

Or just... you know, heat the cup with boiler water

1 cup < minute, time to put the instant coffee in the cup and get milk out (could put kettle on a smart plug), breakfast pot of tea, 1.2L, dumped into teapot/Assam in 5s, no wait.

it's the living room ... wooden flooring looks nice - but practically being able to walk bare footed, sit on the floor, avoid concert hall acoustics, avoid gouge from chairs .. this ones 80% covered up

Yeah, this is what would annoy me. Not only have I got to keep filling it, to just the right amount, but then I have to wait a whole minute?! I'd be late for my next meeting! Mine takes 30 seconds and it still feels like too long. Turn on, crab mug, grab coffee, grab milk, coffee into mug, that's maybe 10 seconds. I have time for a quick bio break to come back and it's just filling. If I had to wait another 20-30 seconds, maybe longer if I'd misjudged the filling...

Home assistant, will hook it into Alexa at some point.

How is the delay with the chime and Home assistant/homebrigde? I've got a nest doorbell at the moment but want to pick up a G4 at some point, there's about a 5s delay using the nest with homebridge, but then there's about 5s delay using the Google Home devices too
