Images of items I have purchased (except trainers [no feet pics])

Hope you all use protection ! Maybe I should try the once a day stuff

Once a day? Not sure I'd trust that.

I assume you supported your local shops and bought it from there given how they are all struggling where you are?

well i bought some s and v chipsticks and toilet roll from there when i collected my amazon package but this is the problem do i buy 3 bottles of lidl red at 12 quid or spend £30 plus locally, i am guessing a lot of us use them the same way when we run out of essentials

Poly Voyager Free 60+ UC

I have several work trips coming up, along with later this year expecting to stay occasionally with my daughter at her flat in York. So I need something portable for work calls, Teams meetings, etc, as well as general music and watching films when I travel. For home I already have some Poly Voyager Focus 2 headphones which are truly superb. For work they provide us with very cheap wired headsets so I carry my old Poly Voyager Focus 1's into the office. But with a lot of travel soon I wanted something portable to do the job of both my current music earbuds (Jabra Elite 75t Active's) and my over the head Poly Voyager Focus.

I've read some not great reviews of the microphones and background noise cancelling of these. But it's early days and I can return them if I find the same. Poly have in the past been great with firmware updates too and these have only just been released.

Reasons for getting them over other earbuds:

1) They connect to just about anything:
* Bluetooth 5.3
* The USB adapter to connect to a laptop with higher definition and bandwidth than regular bluetooth.
* Also in the case is a 3.5mm to USBC cable. The case can then act as a bluetooth transmitter to convert a non-bluetooth device (such as a TV or airplane seat) to bluetooth.

2) The case itself has a lot of touchscreen functionality. So when using them of work calls many controls such as mute, volume, switch paired device, etc, are on the case (as well as a lot of the functions also being on the earbuds themselves). The downside, though, is that the case is quite bulky. Not a deal breaker but something to consider. I think the Apple Pro gen3 and Sony XM5's will have a similar feature.

3) Wireless charging. Yes I know this is common now but my old buds don't have it. My Anker battery pack has a wireless charging pad built in so these will pair nicely with it when traveling.

4) Multi point connectivity. Again this is quite common nowadays but it's a must have (10 paired devices with two active connections - athough it's very simple to just switch connections to any device using the touchscreen on the case).

I will see how they perform over the next few days at work, and whether other people's reports of poor mic quality are true or not. So far they seem to have great microphone so perhaps there has been a recent firmware update. But I've only tested them at home in a quiet environment. Time will tell what they are like in an office environment. They obviously won't be up to the quality of a good over the head headset with boom mic near the mouth. I will continue to use my over the head Voyager Focus for home use but am hoping these are a lightweight and portable all-in-one solution for everywhere else.

Volume seems to be sufficient but perhaps a little lacking in maximum volume. But sound quality for music seems at least as good as my Jabra 75t's.

It's a shame we still need those god awful dongles in 2023. My jabra evolve2 behaves odd with windows 11 over Bluetooth (mic mute button now mutes audio and tbc whether it mutes mic...). Apparently the jabra dongle fixes this but feels so wrong.

I know what you mean. The dongle isn't essential. It will obviously connect over bluetooth. But in the case of Poly the dongle adds the following:

* Higher bandwidth so better range (these only have a range of about 30m but my Voyager Focus 2's have 100m on the same model dongle - I can walk down the end of my garden with the laptop inside the house and still be on a call).
* Better integration with Teams and Zoom so the headset/earbud controls also control Teams (muting on the headset will also mute Teams status, etc).
* A status light on the adapter for when in calls, etc.

The last two are no big deal. But the improved range is nice to have. I also like the ability to put the dongle in any device and not having to re-pair the headset. E.g. take it out of my work laptop and put it in my personal laptop. Or leave the dongle in my docking station and any laptop (I have several) that I plug into the docking station automatically gets access to the headset without needing to pair it.

I'm actually in the market to replace my Plantronics Backbeat 2s because the range isn't sufficient to get me to the toilet, fridge, garden etc. So totally agree range is a weird priority that if you don't have, becomes annoying in the weirdest ways.

I haven't actually tried the Jabra dongle but there is no reason why I can't plug it into my KVM.......hmmm, will give that a test tomorrow! At least then I can use the mute button at home.

Let me know how you get on with the mic; I rarely use my 75ts for anything other than music because the mic is just impossible for quality conversations with people (they don't moan, but I know how frustrating it is to have to listen to folk with mics less quality than a proper boom setup).

Will try it for a few days and then report back.

Some KVM's only have USB2. It might be worth trying the dongle directly in the computer first. Then try it in the KVM if it's successful at extending the range.

Ah interesting, I didn't realise some dongles need USB3. You are right, my KVM is USB 2 because otherwise there isn't enough bandwidth for USB-DP.

Cheap wet & dry for the garage etc. Yes, the floor needs a clean.

Outdoor socket and some twin and earth not in picture. Stairs are covered in protective plastic as the en suite is being done.

In line extractor fan.

Which I fitted myself, no doubt I will die as most electricians driving £50k transporters will have you believe. Wish me luck.

Might have to replace the ducting as it's not drawing much out so I suspect a leak or blockage somewhere.

Plaster/ceiling being sorted tomorrow depending on alcohol consumption this evening. Working in the loft on one of the warmest days of the year was fun.
