cool ill check it out, my tomtom rider is getting old now and probably wont last much longer.
Think you can add as many as you like. Its just like google maps in as much as you drag the line to where you want it and it adds waypoints. Then you send the route to the app on your phone and follow it, unlike google when you send it to your phone and it only keeps the start and end point.
I Was going to start a thread about these, I was originally looking at the Venu2, but for not much more the fenix7 looks to add a fair bit more. But then the Fenix7 models are an absolute minefield and the prices vary wildly from website to website.
I don’t think you’re supposed to put animals in that.Having a dog, but no van yet, this is a must

I do some hiking/wild camping a long with weight training so it was the Venu2 which originally caught my interest, but now Im tempted by the F7 or the epic if I can get it for the right price.
What made you go for this over the Fenix 7?

I prefer AMOLED screens to be honest.
If you compare the 2 identical models, they have the same features. Other than the Fenix is able to solar charge, but has a different display technology which is a lot lower resolution. They both cost the same.
For your activities both watches will be excellent, the AMOLED on the Epix will provide more accurate maps in the display so you don't have to zoom in as much, and has a lot longer battery life because it doesn't have an AMOLED display and is supposedly better to view in direct sunlight (tbh the Epix display is fine in the sun). Ultimately it comes down to the screen tech you prefer.
My activities are gym, BJJ (but I have to take off the watch for obvious reasons!), swimming, hiking, and trail cycling. It does that beautifully and accurately. It's also a lot more solid than my previous one, being titanium and over 70g it feels good on the wrist. The sapphire glass I hope will make it more resilient to the bashes it invariably will receive!
yeah the brightness of the AMOLED screen was the biggest attraction to it for me. ill keep an eye out, ive seen some prices recently go quite low for both models, so as soon as there is a sale on ill probably jump for either this or the F7.
Cheers, I dont really do much more outside of weight training and hiking/camping so in some ways im thinking it may be overkill for my needs but then while these are on offer, they're not much more than the likes of the venu2 but offer quite a bit more in terms of features.I upgraded to the Epix Pro for a few reasons
I liked the screen and the original Epix didn't come in the bigger 51mm size
I like gadgets and it was something new and shiny
Some of the new metrics are great. Such as hill endurance/readiness
The best "Value" option out there is probably the Fenix 6 Pro, possibly even the solar version, although for your use case it probably isn't needed given the excellent battery life. Especially on the 6X which i had. Otherwise the Original Fenix 7/Epix Gen 2 are going to be getting all the new features as the newer Fenix/Epix Pro and has some great discounts. So may be the better options.
