Are international removals that expensive its cheaper to buy a van?

They're not too bad. Works out about £250/m3. The main issue is we have a dog so need to drive over to take him. No-one wants a UK car in Spain since Brexit/RHD issues so i don't want to take my ~£11k CX5 and be stuck with it.

So, by the time we factor in say £2k for a removal firm, buy a cheap used car to travel over in anyway, it made sense to just buy a van. Plus this way as i'm not paying per m3 i'm more likely to take some awkward shaped things that would otherwise cost a lot but not have much value

Ah fair enough, makes a bit more sense now. Assume you are buying a LHD over there then?

Already got a Jeep Wrangler over there :D

Will likely have to buy something else though for numerous reasons, as much as i insist it's the perfect car. It does have some flaws

1 - The Jeep is tall and my wife can barely get in it, not ideal for someone with shoulder issues to use handles to pull yourself in. Potentially worse if i move to bigger tyres
2 - Once she is in it, it's not very comfy for someone with a chronic illness
3 - Steering is heavy - Not ideal for my wife due to above illness
4 - It's a 4L inline 6 and shaped like a brick so does ~15mpg
5 - Wind noise over 50mph is horrific
6 - Getting the dog in the back seat is tricky - Taking out the rear bench means can use the rear door though which is great, but then the dogs stuck on a very hot metal tub

As such, i'll probably aim for something small and ideally diesel powered for longer journeys. Something like a Mini would be handy.

Mirfield?

Absolutely loving my latest gadget!!

Robot lawnmower that uses satellites for 2cm accuracy and avoids all those silly boundary wires!

Seriously impressed with this - allows beautiful stripes, crosshatching and more!

Wanted one of these for ages. But alas, 2 huge oak trees drop too many sticks. So I must stick to the petrol mower.

Bought a few Oru Kayaks to try and get out Kayaking more. Cannot be bothered with hard shells and lugging them about. And also a cheapo Intex for the lad to potter about in to see if he enjoys it before splashing out. Also had to grab a few PFD and a paddle. Expensive hobby.

Was going to say if you're close happy to go out! But Scotland!

My oru has been great. Thought it would perish by now. But it's still going!

My Intex didn't last long! :D

Can you stick a review of the Oru in the paddling thread when you get to use it?

EDIT - @413x same for you. I was eyeing up the Sandbanks inflatable for sea related paddles but would consider others

Sure thing. Hoping to get on both this week. Tried setting both up today. The inlet so far seems far sturdier and well designed but the lake is super simple to setup compared to the inlet.

Thingy for the wotsit. For $25, the build quality and overall first impressions are excellent. I'm using the free Car Scanner ELM OBD app bytw which is quite comprehensive.

How useable is that app for the free version? Can you make changes? I've got Bimmercode and Bimmerlink but the free versions and you can only check stuff, not change anything. Also, is it the app with the blue logo with engine in it? (Car scanner ELM OBD2 Rated 4.6/5)

This is the app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ovz.carscanner&hl=en_GB&gl=US

And yeah the free version basically just shows an ad every few launches and has some limitations on how far you can customise stuff like the dashboard and whatnot. Otherwise the main features are all usable. I bought the pro version of the app for just under a fiver as you can use the free money from Google Rewards Surveys, so may as well use them because the funds to have an expiry date

I have no yet tried bimmer-code, one to check out next I guess for coding stuffs.

Edit* Seems if you want bimmercode to work for all models then the vLinker MC Bluetooth dongle is the one to go for, the Veepeak BLE ones support models from 2008 upwards for coding. Diagnostics all models are supported.
