I made the mistake of not paying for a cabin on returning from my Camino 2019, maybe they are compulsory now , ended up downing desperados and crashing on the lounge seats ,tbf though i may just go across and stay in Santander ,hung around there for a while after my trip and really enjoyed the surfy vibe and beaches ,stayed feet from the marina

Yeah. Not making that mistake. A cabin isn’t mandatory but we’ve got the dog and I’d rather not stick him in the kennels so a dog friendly cabin isn’t too bad.

33hrs on a ferry though. I wonder how many beers I can hide in the van!

33hrs! My god. Have you thought about trying to find a new route to Spain via some kind of back door?

Madness isn’t it.

That’s without even thinking about the 6hrs down to Portsmouth and then the 6hours the other side too.

On the flip side it means I’m not spending 25hrs behind the wheel of a car in what’s going to be an uncomfortable van!

Yep it's all part of the experience tbh. I was in no rush to get back, went there by train (Bodmin to London London to Paris tgv to Bayonne iirc (normal train as well i think), bus to french pyranees then walked) but no cabin definitely a mistake, just glad I wasn't sea sick ,just got a bit smashed and chilled in the sun
iirc the total budget inc travel and spend was £1200 for 2 months

I've done 38 hours non stop travelling before and would welcome having done it purely on a ferry with the ability to walk around. :D

2 hours to airport, 3 hours in airport, 12 hour flight to Hong Kong, 1 hour transfer, 13 hour Flight to Fiji, 2 hours to clear customs/transit to Yasawa Islands Ferry, 5 hour ferry trip to Nanuya Island. Took a good 7 days of 2 hour afternoon naps to get back to normal.

We also did this twice, once in 2010 and again in 2014, the difference being on the 2nd one, we spent a night in Nadi before moving onto the island we were staying at :D

Yeah it's not fun. When we went back in March my journey went

Wednesday - Work till 2pm - Drive 6 hours down to Flexstowe - Stay in Holiday Inn
Thursday - Up at 6 - Drive to Eurotunnel - Get off Eurtunnel around 9am - Drive to Montpellier - Arrive at hotel around 10pm
Friday - Wake up around 7am - Drive to destination - Get there around 7pm

So much time stuck in the car was horrific, and this time i'll be in a Van rather than a nice car seat with various adjustable settings! The Ferry will probably take the same amount of time from start to end, but with so much of it spent outside/relaxing it should be a lot more pleasant.
