^If you've owned or listened to a whole bunch of earphones with different ear tips you'll know that's certainly not the case :)

The last 2 pairs of IEMs I've owned came with tens of different size/type ear tips and it's crucial that the tips create a perfect seal

Would you happen to know of any decent ear tips sold separately?

Easter is coming.

Well, it must be, the snow is starting to melt.

So to celebrate, carrot cake flavoured M&Ms.

Choices are endless. You can buy packs of 18+ different sizes of rubber/silicone ones on eBay for a few quid or you could buy re-shaping Comply branded ones for a lot more... Everyone has different shape ears so try a few cheap ones, see what works and go from there.

Yea, I was wondering about brand, but I'll buy whatever and see how it goes, think I might have a bookmark buried from this thread from a while back. Thanks for the input.

The last 2 pairs of IEMs I've owned came with tens of different size/type ear tips and it's crucial that the tips create a perfect seal in order to block out stuff like vehicles and footsteps. Many people assume if the tip fits without falling out then it's fine when it's actually not. Big tips that fit snugly still might not create a perfect seal and you will lose some sound blocking abilities.
I walk ~5 miles a day to and from work and that's what I base my experience on. I can tell you that because of that my earphones that aren't advertised as active noise cancelling do block out outside noise when playing music and anything that's up to the volume of a bus driving by isn't a problem let alone ambient noises like footsteps or other people.

The problem is when the vibrations like footsteps go up your body, a seal won't really do much against internal things like that. Of course, going to that lengths will of course cause some noticeable change, I'm just saying it can never be as good as it could be because of factors you simply can't change. :p

JXD S7800B - I've fallen in love with this device.

It's essentially a quad core Android tablet running Jelly Bean with two analogue thumb sticks and game buttons. Most emulators work straight out of the box with the controls. It will happily run Mame, SNES, Megadrive, PS, N64, Dreamcast roms.

Surprisingly decent build quality for a Chinese tablet, all for £80!

It runs dreamcast !!??

:O

Might be a purchase for me...

Thing is with the bose noise cancelling range is that whilst the sq isn't anything special they are very good at noise cancelling.

For those who travel a lot that can be a godsend, I finally bought some QC20s whilst in the US a while ago (so cost me less) and wish I'd got some sooner.

Previously been using some cheap over the ear noise cancellers and whilst they were good the Bose are better and also a lot comfier on long journeys due to the combination of how they fit and my sticky out ears :p

Over the ear phones just hurt me after a while whereas I can wear these for 8 hours with no issues at all, plus the reduction in background noise they offer is very welcome.

The bose don't actually go in your ear canal, they sit just at the opening, plus point is the comfort, negative is no tight seal so bass doesn't feel as good.

Overall the comfort they provide to me is worth my money, but again sq wise they seem pretty average and prefer my Nocs, but even then having in ear buds in for 8 hours can be uncomfortable so the Bose win when travelling.

The bliss of sliding the power switch when you have plane engines roaring, which then just turn into a light rush of air :)

£260 on earphones? Whaaaaa

Aren't Bose head/earphones similar to Dre Beats? i.e. way overpriced for the quality

As said in the above quote... Didn't buy them for the SQ (You would be mad/deluded to do that)... But the NC and comfort is the best on the market (IMO of course)

...or so they say ;)

About to drop £250 on some new earphones myself, going with JVC FX850s though.

As said above... I'd agree if it was purely based on sound... But the NC is what I bought them for.

I deliberated for ages on whether to get a pair, the cheap pair I had been using did the job reasonably well but after one flight where my ear hurt so much after from being pushed back the whole time I thought that's it.

As said the SQ on them is average, but it's the comfort and very good active noise cancelling that wins it for me. When travelling those factors are more important to me.

Been good so far, also like having the rechargeable battery so don't have to keep buying batteries or taking spares.

Will have racked up about 60 hours of flying this year so far soon, plus probably the same again on trains so getting the usage out of them :)
