My sons first pet

This is tinky the hamster, only 6 weeks old, and very scared.

I've now got a new cage for her which is like a mansion too but i haven't taken a picture of that yet. It even has a penthouse she can get into via a tube

Second to Guinea Pigs, but easier to keep!

Should soon settle in though. My current one was like this initially. Would actually stop with her 'hands' in the air and mouth open if she was startled - think that little black kitten on YouTube! Lol

I had a rat about 7-8 years ago after always previously having hamsters, gerbils or mice. The smell was far worse than the others, even when trying to keep him hygenic and he was surprisingly lazy...i'd put him in his ball and he'd just sit there and never go anywhere...tried my hardest to teach him by gradually pushing the ball but he just didn't get it.

Mice have been my favourites so far, but not so easy for my son to handle as they're very small and fast.

Had a couple of hamsters before, although not for about 14 years now. Following some online guides to advise myself on the best way to settle her in and then try and get her as friendly and tame as possible

EDIT: Did consider a rabbit as well actually, but felt we knew what we were doing better with a hamster, might get a guinea pig or rabbit in the future though
