What machine is that Phate?

I may as well share my Christmas coffee goodies!

Been using a Nespresso machine on the right for the last 2 or 3 years and have quite liked it. But really only good for small shots, not so great for tall cups of coffee.

Bought the Aeropress about 6 months ago about about £25 and really like it. Great for making lovely tall cups of coffee from ground coffee. Up until now I've only been using pre-ground bags from the supermarket.

The Krups bean grinder for xmas for £20, only had a chance to try it once so far though as I accidentally broke my caffatiere when emptying it :(
So I'll start experimenting with freshly ground coffee in a my Aeropress now to see how that is.

Annnd..a Tassimo Machine :o
My guilty pleasure as I'm sure some of the coffee connoisseurs wouldn't approve.

I couldn't say no to it though when it was on sale at Amazon for £35 last week, plus it came with 2 x £10 off codes for more T-Pods. So essentially only £15 for the machine and then approx 42p per cup using the pods. That's for the Costa Caramel latte pods, which are actually really nice! I figured I'd get my money back after about 20 drinks if I use the machine instead of heading down to the high street to get a £2.50 caramel latte.

I actually really like the Tassimo machine, great for larger drinks, tall cups of coffee, the caramel latte. I'm going to try the hot chocolates and the Oreo drink too. The ability to have a seperate pod for milk and flavouring really opens of the possibility to much different types of drinks than the nespresso. They're quite different, so I'll keep both for now. It also produces quite hot drinks too.

I meant to say as well, the machines are great for when I want a quick cup in the morning before heading out the door or if I'm rushed off my feet. The grinder and aeropress is for lazy mornings or when I'm not in a rush during the day.

I also got an aerolatte last week for a tenner for frothy milk when I grind fresh beans :D
Not even had a chance to try it yet. Already had two cups today...not sure I can handle another just yet...

Some Lego and some anime figs :)

Where did you get those anime figures? What are they?

I bought a 2W handheld blue laser.

And that carpet is horrific. I had red carpet everywhere in a rented house a few years back - great for being able to throw wine all over the place, not so great for looking anything other than bad.

I really like my Tassimo, I've had it a few years now but I find the hot chocolate ones to be quite disappointing. The Milka and Cadbury ones taste okay but you ideally need to warm the chocolate disc up first (running it under a hot tap works) otherwise you end up with a fairly flavourless drink. Even then, the actual amount you get isn't a lot. The Oreo one is quite disappointing too; smells like Oreos but tastes like a cheap chocolate drink.

As you said though, the lattes etc it makes are great. It's a good idea to use the cleaning disc fairly regularly too, only takes a moment and keeps the nozzle clean and stops taste transfer.

Thanks for the tips.

Yeah, I read on HUKD earlier the same thing about the warming the chocolate pods before using. Apparently some are liquid and some are powder and some may have even switched recipe in the last month or two. I've read good things about the Suchard ones.

Have you tried the teas? I don't drink tea very often and often get a pack and then forget about it in the cupboard for 6 months. I'm trying to find substitutes to highly caffeinated or alcoholic drinks to have in the evenings and I'm thinking the flavoured teas might be an option.

I ordered a few of them earlier today to try them out, including the Chai Latte, which has really good reviews on the Tassimo site.

EDIT: Looks like you can get the Tassimo machine I got for £35 from John Lewis now if anyone is after one :)

Mmmm....you just need some matching tubs of cottage cheese and a few pots of honey to go with that peanut butter, mix it all up and you'll be good to go on snack food for at least a week!
