Is there any reason you can't come out of University and declare yourself bankrupt? Some of those figures are mental.

Bankruptcy doesn't clear a student loan.

Wasn't it solely down to Blair's ideology?

Try getting a mortgage with it.

They are only interested in the repayments for affordability calculations, they don't care about size of the loan and they don't reduce the mortgage offer unlike other forms of debt - i.e. mortgage offer = (max mortgage - outstanding debts).

A lot of banks still don't even ask about student loans.

I don't believe it. Just switched that laptop I bought above. What's going on with the screen. Just some random white line going down it.

Agreed. It's pretty awful to be honest.

It's an outright scam.

I left education at 15 (you could back then) and progressed my career to the point to where I could charge 1500 a day as a contractor.

Degrees mean **** imo. I've met many a whippet who thought they knew everything because they had a degree from oxford/cambridge. They didn't know ****. All they knew how to do was pass exams.

I'd take a time serviced apprentice over some spoiled brat with a top notch degree every time.

Although some of your points make sense.

That's some massive sweeping statements you've made their. There is many jobs out there that require further education and without it just wouldn't be possible.

I can't actually do my job without a degree it's a requirement of registration with the health and care professions council, so yeah degrees do mean **** to a lot of people

There are many professions that you have to go to school for.

Doctors, dentist, architecture, law, all forms of scientific fields, you can't get into these careers through experience and the degree is merely just the first step.
