What do you really need that amount of speed for ?

I find 95% of the time I don't even need my 45mb line speed..

Porn! Duh!?!?!

LOL... who says I need it? Want...

The download speed is nice, but it's the upload that I'm craving... a different apartment we were looking at had symmetrical gigabit speeds.

Plus it's only costing me £55/month :D

but it is nice, when downloading a game or file and you get it within seconds or minutes, rather than an hour.

It is quite nice... :D

52.4MB/s peak so far... :D

Approximately 1GB/minute on average... at peak time!

I’ve been searching for a good quality version of a G1 Prime for a while - it's going on display in my study room.

Transformers : Takara Optimus Prime - Masterpiece

As a kid, if you had shown up to my primary school. I'd have been soooooo jealous. Unashamedly jealous lol

Looks like a Sony HT-CT380. Come's with a wireless sub, 3 HDMI's in and 1 out also. Not a bad bar!

Close ;) I needed it's bigger brother for the 50" tv

Looks great. What sound bar is that please?

Awaiting delivery of a projector so my 5.1 will be moved into a 'cinema' room and looking to replace with a soundbar for the living room TV viewing.

Does it come with a Sub or does it sound good without?

It is a Sony CT780, it comes with wireless sub which I have hidden behind a unit :) It's very good for the price and sound is good, even the Mrs complimented it! It has 3 hdmi in / 1 out (ARC & 4k passthrough)

Feels like 1988 all over again! Though I remember it looking cooler.

This arrived from the 'bay today;

MMZ Helios 44-2 58mm f/2, an old 1970's Russian lens famous for it's unique bokeh. Once I get some better light I'm going to take it out and see what it can really do, but for now, a couple of sample shots;

Still seems lovely and sharp given its age. I've had to buy a Canon lens cap for the back of the lens (it's fitted to a Canon mount), but other than that it will want for nothing. Not bad for £35.00.

It would help if you get one with a correct plug to begin with :p

:p

Out of interest what do you dislike about it? I don't have that model Devolo powerline adapter but have a lot of their AV500 range and I'm pretty happy with it.

I'm getting 10mbit throughput on a 50-70m cable run, on the same electrical loop (phase)... can't even stream a 1080p movie.

From the office to living room they get usable speeds of 150mbit at least.

But the main point of getting them was to stick media server in basement and not have to rely on wireless... I can't run an ethernet cable in this place :(

Next up, I'll try some low frequency wireless with a high-gain antenna... should be easy to get 50mbit... but i'd like 100 minimum.

OK... I need to take back my words...

I've tried a different wall socket in the apartment and I've just managed to make 100mbit!!

I'm happy with that, it's fast enough for my needs :D

I'm getting some slightly odd results like that as I'm testing a few more sockets around the apartment.

I've also got Devolo's Cockpit software open which shows the speed it thinks they're connected at.

I tried the master-sockets next to the fuse box and that was the highest speed I've seen on the Cockpit software... it was saying they were connected at 450mbit to the basement! Awesome, I thought... let's try a transfer.

It was all over the place from 4MB/s to 7MB/s.

OK... try a hall socket... 350mbit on the software, 5-8MB/s

Hmmm... back to the one I just got the good speeds with to make sure it wasn't a fluke and there isn't an issue elsewhere.

Software showing 190-210mbit... sometimes peaking to 250.

Rock solid transfer speed of 10.2-10.4MB/s.

Looks like I've found the best socket to use... it's fast enough for my needs, so I'll leave it there :)

Heh, I used to be a world famous expert on M42's; still have my whole collection which I use all the time on my DSLR. About 60 or so lens ;-)

FYI; I had a very active forum of my own there: http://forum.manualfocus.org/ -- I closed it down to registration a while back, mostly due to spam and not enough time to admin it properly.

Seeing this reminded me, are the originals worth anything?
I still have an original Optimus Prime somwhere in it's box!

Yes assuming an 80s one then depending on the condition and box condition anywhere from a couple of hundred to many times that.

Pop over to the UK thread on the tfw2005 forum with pics for a valuation and probably a buyer.
