Asus G752JY Skylake 980M laptop... Came with a Free ROG Bag, mouse and headset which was nice.... I think it's a bit ugly compared to the G751 tbh...

This was waiting for me when I got home.

When I asked the Mrs if there was any excise to pay she told me that royal mail left the package outside the front door. As you would expect I was fuming

Were you happy not to pay duty on the item?
Was the item undamaged?

What's with all the moving? The hell do you work as?

We could have stayed in France, just didn't want to.

I was supposed to be in the office every day and didn't fancy 2 hours commute every day... so moved to somewhere where it would be 16 minutes.

Also got feddup of 5/1 internet and general French frustrations.

ABUS disc lock for my bike, it is excellent quality, will be buying another right away! :)

Give the ends of the shackle a wipe over with WD40 or ACF50 every now and again, I've got the same one and the water seems to sit and rust the ends up a little bit.
Purely cosmetic but irritating when you end up with rusty water on you every time you use it!

It was nice to have a house again after living in Aesch, which had absolutely terrible sound-proofing... we could hear both up and down neighbours easily and they could hear us. The build was only completed in 2008, so it shouldn't have been that bad. We also had a detached house before leaving the UK, so it was a bit of a shock... combined with the two apartments I'd lived in before that in the UK both having exception noise damping.

Got to make lots of noise in a house, but every single interaction with any company or government body was an absolute nightmare and I struggle with the French "don't give a ****" attitude that's over-filled with hypocrisy in what they expect of others while doing nothing themselves.

All companies I asked to do any work for me, the people who did it at least - did a really bad job.

I suppose part is not surprising, given the low low salaries.

Quite possibly an over-generalisation, it's just these issues happened so often, it got really annoying.

French websites were a gaggle of fun too... Bouygues' (mobile operator) online payment facility has been broken for over a year, they openly admit it... you have to call them to pay and the number only works when you are inside French borders. I got cut off about 4 times just because I couldn't call when out of the country... and I couldn't pay early either, oh no no - that would be too easy.

Their offices were, of course, closed over the christmas break.

I received a text message on christmas eve to pay, threatening to be cut off on boxing day (despite good history of past payments) and their office was closed the entire time!!! Not the first instance...

Then, to top it off... they wanted to charge me a fee to call me so that I could pay them... lmao.

I've also never seen so many dead animals on the road... way too many cats, but others too... I saw many people who would just not slow down for an animal crossing, at all.

Even places like Turkey, which you might expect to be a little worse on this front - have less roadkill!

Soooo... now back in Switz in a bigger and newer apartment, with damn good soundproofing so we can make lots and lots of noise and not bother the neighbours :D

Hahahaha I feel every damn one of those. Their payment systems are a joke. Online/ over the phone is either non existent, or so backwards it's ridiculous.
Tradesman always tend to have this "sigh, really?" kind of attitude, where it's like you've just asked them to fly to the moon and back, not that you want to give them work. Then, like you say, bodge the job, which is so frustrating.

Anyway, I bought some bike stuff...

Facebook is the place to buy now, I can add you to the groups if you want.

I just seen you have France as location, all the groups I'm in are Uk based.

Could you add me please. I need to shift some gear I've had in the garage for a while.
