Just in time as it's snowing today through Wednesday :D

Why do you need an amp with earphones?

It's not just an amp it's a DAC.Depending on the headphone, amps help drive headphones with a higher impedance.

I have the same amp and DAC and use it to by pass the iPhone's built in DAC.

Once you have tried it you just can't go back and unlisten to how extraordinary it sounds...

The Oppo HA-2 is one of the best purchases I have made in the last five years...

It's changed my mobile life.:D

It's replaced my soundcard when gaming it's taken to work...it's like having a portable hifi in your pocket...it's staggering.

I've used external drives broken open and used in Nas for years...

Missing the point...

The point isn't that it won't work, it's more what they are designed for. I too have done what you have said but if I were to start my RAID again I would go slower drives that is designed for NAS than a fast one for usb expansion.

Wow those Segate HDD's are cheap! Could buy two for one and raid them for backup, handy knowing Segate's ultimate reliability.

Tempted myself, I need some mass storage.

Don't use raid...I use stablebit drivepool and hp microservers...I use the toshiba drives...rebranded Hitachis iirc very robust.:)

I use Stablebit Drivepool and Scanner on my server. Last year I upgraded with three 5TB Toshibas pulled from external units at ~100 each.

How do you bypass the DAC? Use the lightning port for audio out?

Lightning port to USB on the DAC

Then headphone out on the DAC :)

If you want to use it on the PC you switch over to USB mode and plug it into you computer via USB.

Also works for android devices

Nice :)

What about the device in the earlier post? Seems the DAC is connected directly to an audio out, won't this just go from the devices DAC to the external DAC?

What's the point of having the Oppo HA-2 and a Fiio DAP? I was under the impression that the HA-2, Chord Mojo and similar were for use with phones that don't have the capability to really get the most out of a good pair of earphones/headphones? Surely the DAP on it's own should be enough to drive those earphones? For the price of the Fiio X3ii and the Oppo HA-2 you could have got an Astell & Kern AK Jr, wouldn't that have been the better option?
